I was going to build my own Steam Machine but will probably go with a pre-built solution, mainly to support the effort and also because I'm probably too inert
Looks like Valve have been delaying in order to bring the whole package together... I definitely want the controller and the VR headset is interesting me greatly too... and possibly the Steam Link... hang on, that's the whole lot ;)
I agree with what Segata said previously about the pricing though, Valve should be putting out their own range, low, mid and high and sucking up the loss on hardware to get wider adoption and market penetration.
Very exciting times.

Torchlight II Now On Linux, Old News By A Day, But Here’s My Report

Not the type of game I'd normally buy but really liked the look of it and at a bargain price! Unfortunately I was getting no audio. As I posted on the Steam forum...
I'm assuming the game assumes pulseaudio only as I get no audio when running this game on Arch Linux. I'm not using any DE and my audio output is via ALSA.
The solution in my case is to use the incredibly useful apulse which I'm already using for Skype. It's available from the AUR [External Link] for Arch or from source [External Link].
Simply go to 'Properties -> General -> Set Launch Options' and enter the following...
You will have to change the 0,0 part after plughw: to the sound device you use for output, if it differs. Note there is also a /usr/bin/apulse32 command for 32bit applications.
Am I the only person to experience no sound in this game?

Quoting: WaikanoI assumed tmtvl was joking, hence my reply (also joking) ;)Quoting: fabertaweAlready available in Steam for Linux...works fine.Quoting: tmtvlI have no mouth and I must scream.I'm surprised you got no "likes" for that (bar mine). It tickled me anyway! At least you wouldn't be an alcoholic :D
p.s. I have no idea what the game could be.

I'm also in favour of picking your top five, ranked with points from 5 to 1, as stss mentioned. I'm not too keen on the Editors finalising the voting list though as this will definitely exclude games some (many?) might want to vote for and lend bias to the ones the Editors actually like. Unless it's a massive list of course, in which case just repeat what we had this time (my choice). Choice is good! I don't think early access should be included either.
I never selected an open source game.... was this a category I missed or was that list just generated from the overall vote?
p.s. I voted Borderlands 2 - incredible game!

Great article, happy to see more like this. I have two WD 1TB Blacks in a RAID1 array and it's good to learn something new! Load_Cycle_Count is 1860 for both btw (couple of years usage).

Exactly the same here with me Beamboom :D
I'm only level 44 on True Vault Hunter mode and have only played one of the DLC as of now. I will eventually get around to the Pre-Sequel, probably when Borderlands 3 is out
p.s. I absolutely love this game!
