Quoting: hidekinI just tested the game.
With all the settings in high , 24" 1920x1200 ips screen,CPU i7 3820 3.6Ghz,gigabyte GTX 770 4GB,RAM 24GB archlinux 64bits with the nvidia 337.25 drivers
I'm around 60fps for me it's a really good port like Civilization V , but i only tried one mission.
How are you measuring that?

Otherwise, I just saw a lot words with no substance aimed directly at trying to derail the topic.
I totally agree with mirv. This is just gargled tech-speak which says nothing meaningful at all. I smell troll.
and i'm not even sure he is god, either.

Can you make the square-ish ad just before the comments start a leaderboard-style (wide, but short)? It is kind of ugly as it is. Cheers.

AMD's OpenGL Performance Is Nothing Close To Nvidia On This Benchmark

Latest Beta drivers right? The ones that weren't released until after the game was out?

(It's not just an AMD issue though, but Nvidia seems to be a bit snappier on the fixes. And WNO runs under WHQL drivers, not just beta ones.)

Quoting: Gentleman SquidI just wish they supported their cards in Linux a lot more. Been like this for too long. Performance with NVidia and Linux has been smoother for a while now.
It's not just Linux they are doing a terrible job on, it's also terrible on Windows (in OpenGL). idTech5 engines for example.

Why We Shouldn't Accept Bad Linux Ports
26 May 2014 at 9:02 am UTC

I don't believe the issue lies solely with eON. If it did, everyone would have terrible performance. Despite the noise of those who are having problems, I think the majority are not.

The problem is likely a lack of testing on the more obscure Linux breeds like Mint and Manjaro, etc. How many people are having problems with their NVIDIA cards on Ubuntu 12.04 or 14.04? Or, more importantly... SteamOS?

The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings Enhanced Edition Released For SteamOS Linux
23 May 2014 at 9:17 am UTC

I just played 15 minutes of it, no I didn't read 12 pages of whinging. It's a AAA game running on Linux, albeit a bit buggy. I couldn't care less if it isn't "native" or whatever that means in the context of a binary that is ELF, and won't run on Windows.

What I find ridiculous is that people are abusing the devs who are trying to provide support on their own dime and time. How about a bit of "cheers for the port, but it isn't working for me/runs like balls on my mid-level 2011 video card" rather than "OMG YOU GUYS ARE LYING SCUM".

I just bought a copy for some random Linux guy on my steam friends list who had it on his wish list.

Quoting: neffoYeah, no this game isn't a thing. They are not CryEngine screenshots.
Uh, what?

He even had a thread on the CryEngine dev forum: http://www.crydev.net/viewtopic.php?f=353&t=122740 [External Link]
They are pre-rendered.
