DoubleFine seem to have attracted a bit of a mess with Psychonauts 2 funding

This is a hatchet job of a video. He makes some pretty shakey statements there.

Would Doublefine have been able to make a Broken Age for $400,000. Well no, but it wasn't going to be Broken Age for $400,000. It would have been more a Hack 'n' Slash game for that money. Also, how can the guy not understand the concept of stretch goals?

(Doublefine do great work, they support Linux and Mac on day one and lets not forget that all games companies miss deadlines and cancel projects.)

Valve Rep Confirms Why Some Games Have Their SteamOS Icon Removed

Quoting: lvlarkMaybe Valve should make a graphical frontend for installing such dependencies then? And probably include a way for us to know which games work 'out-of-the-box' and which need additional dependencies.
You mean like Steam itself?

Devs should just ship extra dependencies with the games. If they have to bundle OpenJDK it's just a matter of throwing up a
EULA I suspect.

Quoting: GuestValve should compromise though and add a tux logo for Linux games, especially since Gabe himself publicly stated that he believes Valves future lies with Linux.
I think you'll find he meant supporting Linux ensures they have a future, not that it is the future. (It's about having a plan B.)

The automated testing they seem to be doing for the SteamOS logo is great though. It ensures that everyone is using the same base libraries and if they aren't packaged with the steam environment that the developer is ensuring it's uniform across all their users. The heterogeneity of libraries on Linux was always a problem. The Steam runtime has turned that on it's head, and it should make SteamOS and Steam on Linux much easier to support than targeting Ubuntu (or whatever).

Alien: Isolation Delayed For Linux

Quoting: MaelranePersonally I do not understand why they do not officially support AMD. I mean I skipped Shadow of Mordor (because I use the open source r600 drivers and the feature level is too low atm), but I wanted to support them and bought CoH and it worked just fine on my outdated card with the open source drivers.

So, just support the open source drivers (if possible) and be done with it :)
They don't support it means just that. They won't spend support resources dealing with problems that are likely related to problems with the AMD drivers.

Steam Controller Demo From Pax Prime With Valve Talking About It

A tin-foil hat shouldn't affect the controller. All good.

This should fix the ALT issue if you are using Gnome and maybe others. (It's a problem in KSP as well.)

gsettings set org.gnome.desktop.wm.preferences mouse-button-modifier '<Super>'

It will change the ALT bind to use the windows key instead, but you could probably set it to whatever you want. I've personally never used that feature; I don't move windows much.

Quoting: rustybroomhandleShadow of Mordor runs very well for me, for example - the benchmark never dips below 60fps.
I'd definitely like to see proof of that, along with your specs, posted on the forum.

Regarding Feral's status as a good/bad porter, as you said, it's all relative. Some people are satisfied with performance lower than they'd get on Windows. Others aren't. And obviously, Nvidia users will be happier with them than AMD. It's all about your perspective and your expectations.
with the exception of a dip or two to 50 I can vouch that's what I get with a 970 and a intel i5 3570

shadow of mordor is a really great port, and everyone should buy it as it's a great game to boot.

Sid Meier’s Civilization: Beyond Earth Expansion Rising Tide New Trailer, Still A Day-1 Linux Release
16 Aug 2015 at 1:20 am UTC

I was hoping for a cinematic trailer.

The CIVBE cinematic trailer was great. A real tear-jerker in the Interstellar mold. It's a shame the game wasn't quite so great. (But not bad, mind.)
