So I am reminded of what Ethan Diamond said when he sold Bandcamp to Epic...

"... while over the years we’ve heard from other companies who wanted us to join them, we’ve always felt that doing so would only be exciting if they strongly believed in our mission, were aligned with our values, and not only wanted to see Bandcamp continue, but also wanted to provide the resources to bring a lot more benefit to the artists, labels, and fans who use the site. Epic ticks all those boxes."

In case anyone's forgotten, Epic sold Bandcamp on a year later, to Songtradr, "a music platform that helps to facilitate brands, content creators, and digital platforms in their use of music for licensing purposes". Ethan hasn't said whether Songtradr believes in his mission.

In fairness, Bandcamp still works much as it used to. For now.

All intel processors since the 9th generation (Coffee Lake Refresh)...
Ha, no worries then! Sometimes it pays off to be years behind the times.

... on processors as far back as 7th generation (Kaby Lake)
Goddamn it.

Fanatical's Monster Hunter Bundle returns again with a good deal

I was tempted the last time round because, I mean value, right? Since then I've listened to the Backpage podcast episode (https://open.spotify.com/episode/7l3Q8iXydrZse7dY7GsM0J) and I know to steer clear. Not because it's not a bargain or that the games are bad, but because I now understand the amount of hours I would need to invest for these games to make sense. I'm not made of time!

So two USB-C. One for power, one for input. I have looked at the product site and I'm unable to figure out if the latter can provide power to the Steam Deck (or PD-capable laptop). Am I missing something or is unclear from the info available?

If not and I occasionally have to unplug everything to get power to the Deck (or use some weird dongle arrangement) it looses a lot of it's appeal.

So... has anyone else recently been thinking about how their whole games library is in the hands of an American company. And been reconsidering Polish GOG with that in mind.

Or just me?

Icewind Dale 2 completable in Infinity Engine remake GemRB, plus Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition now playable

I checked the homepage and part of the feature set is scalable ui and touch support. To me this is probably the greatest appeal: Move the PC game files to an android tablet and - along with scummvm - you have PC gaming even more portable than a steam deck.

(I know the EE versions were also ported to Android but - I suspect - with Google Play Store DRM, and the versions I have are GOG and Steam)

Streets of Rogue 2 might be my most anticipated title for 2024

Yup, mine as well. I will probably gobble it down, even if it turned out that it was nothing more than reheated SoR but bigger.

Kingdom Come, The Ascent, Oblivion, Rain World + more in Fanatical's Platinum Collection

"Fall of Porcupine" somehow sounded familiar. After clicking I realized that it was a game that launched only 1½ months ago and got a stellar review from The Escapist [External Link]. (Though apparently, there's also a lot of bugs to contend with).

I'm guessing sales didn't meet expectations. I feel sorry for the team. This is one hard business to be in.

Valve are finally fixing buying games on Steam Deck that need a pop-up

I realize that I would never have encountered this because I will always use a "PC" to top up my wallet funds... And I guess I don't think of the Deck as a PC. At least outside of desktop mode. Which is obviously wrong.
