ARK: Survival Evolved, The Unreal Engine Survival Game Will Release On The 25th For Linux
13 Jun 2015 at 5:19 pm UTC

Quoting: KimyrielleIs this a pure first person game? Please tell me it's not. This is the first survival game that interests me (I am SO not into zombies!), but 1st person games make me seasick. :S
there is thirdperson view also and it defaults to thirdperson view when mounting dinos
i think theres also FoV slider so you shouldnt get seasick if you put it more than 90 degrees

you just scroll out with the mouse wheel.. however most of the servers prevent thirdperson view for obvious reasons..some allow and singleplayer you can play also

SOMA, The New Horror From Frictional Games Due In September Day-1 For Linux, New Trailer Too
29 May 2015 at 8:51 pm UTC

Quoting: peteI have a little question:

So far I have not had the time to play Amnesia The Dark Decent. But I really like for example Dead Space (and found it very scary).

Is there anyone here who has played both and give maybe an idea of what felt scaryer (if compairing is even possible).

Just curiosity :)
if dead space 1 and 3 count ... Amnesia is scarier imo, it just has the sound effects that make it super scary and you really cant do nothing against monsters, just hide.
dead space 1 was also kind a scary but 3 was not at all.

Quoting: FutureSutureLinux gamers who have an AMD graphics card and are running the open source driver can literally run this game better than me.
While it obviously sucks for those who are suffering from this, I must admit to getting a certain amount of schadenfreude from this. Maybe even a little vindication. ;)
i put a mark on my calendar.. thats the first time i hear that game works with AMD and not with Nvidia!
this day is special i guess.. lets drink!

Dying Light Linux Performance Patch & New DLC Released
26 May 2015 at 6:53 pm UTC Likes: 1

FX 8320@4,2ghz, GTX 970, 16GB DDR3, Arch Linux x64, MATE Destkop. nvidia drivers 352.09

Before the patch: 18-30 FPS (mostly around 25)
After the Patch: 38-110FPS (mostly around 60)

settings: 1920x1080, everything maxed, Blur off, AA off, Distance minimum, Field of View +12

edit: even with motion blur off, there is still blur when sprinting.. which makes it unplayable for me.. my head cant keep up with that... also that chromatic stuff :(

otherwise perf is OK with few drops to 38 or 40 areas when lots of zombies in one spot.

game itself seems pretty fun, havent had much time to play it though, the port seems perfect and game mostly runs 100+ fps when not recording, only droping below 100 when in main hub area. thats with FX 8320 @4,2ghz anmd GTX 970 though.
the thing i like about it is that its not a click fest like most such games.. its WASD controls and QERT for abilities + ofc number keys.

looking forward to the final version!
