I been using crossover for like 10 years now, in the beginning to run steam and these day almost all of my gog games that are not linux. I think they doing a great job and give a lot back to wine itself and yes the head person of wine (if you can say that) is employed by crossover. so I find it money well spend

Its all about the money :)
April 2011 was the month that Humble got 4.7mil venture capital (Link [External Link]).
Now Venture capital Firms don't really care about Games, Linux or Charity, they only care about make more profit.
Now yes Humble probably did rake in a lot of money I guess, but when people can pay what they want and then are free to split it in 3 ways it won't bring much return to them, I would think most people chose charity as the biggest cut. I always did and then the game developer and then Humble. So how much profit did Humble itself make really after costs of bandwidth and servers/storage.
Either way it was inevitable that they got sold to someone who was willing to give more then the 4.7mil that they invested, and I guess IGN was that someone.

I'm not entirely sure why Humble needed to join with anyone, considering the amount of money they were pulling in they must have been pretty secure. I'm sure they have their reasonsHi Liam,

this was the mail I got from the Book Of Unwritten Tales 2 Kickstarter:

A few minutes ago we launched our new Kickstarter campaign. It’s for a classic point-and-click adventure game, set in a crazy fantasy world. No, it’s not The Book of Unwritten Tales 3.
It’s for an adventure game based on one of the inspirations for BoUT, Shakes & Fidget.
Go to the Shakes & Fidget – The Adventure Kickstarter campaign
Many people asked us when we’d be making The Book of Unwritten Tales 3.
Truth is we’d love to make BoUT3, but point-and-click adventure games are in a tough spot right now. Not many publishers are willing to invest in a classic adventure game and we wouldn’t want BoUT3 to be a cheap knock-off.
The "Shakes & Fidget – The Adventure" campaign is an important test for us. If it’s successful we’re not only going to make a great Shakes & Fidget game, we’ll also be able to use this success as a starting point to take up talks about BoUT3 with publishers again.
Please support the Shakes & Fidget campaign if you can and let others know about it.
Thank you!

sad part about this is that 99,99% of these keyboard cowboys who write these way out of bounds reactions in a forum don't have the nerve to say these things in person to someone, they just feel safe behind there screen.
If its not something you would say in person to someone then don't post it in a forum, rethink it and rewrite it or take a deep breath, delete it and go on with the important things in live which does not include a bad port.

although its nice they still working in Dx11 and such, its pretty clear that the whole Steam thing has slowed Wine down on some fronts. The big thing here though is their Office 2013 compatible now (or pretty pretty close), those are the things that keep none-gamers on windows :)
