This appears to have fixed Assassins Creed Unity, now the main character doesn't turn and run constantly. Makes the game pretty playable. Still testing games, will edit and update my comment with any other games I discover that work. =)

Thanks Valve, love ya work!

BattlEye now say they're working with Valve to support Steam Play

If you go through all the borked/bronze games in the top 100 on ProtonDB, most of them are not working due to EAC and BattlEye. So this is excellent news, if this is fixed up, then I wouldn't be surprised if we get 80% of games rated as Gold or higher. At that point, we have more games available on Linux than we know what to do with!

Huge Thankyou to Valve! This wouldn't be happening without them so big big thankyou to them!

Easy Anti-Cheat is actually still supported for Linux, a statement from Epic Games
7 May 2019 at 9:07 am UTC Likes: 9

OK, two things, good and bad... well, start with the bad I guess.

To clarify, Easy Anti-Cheat still provides native Linux support and will continue to do so. Earlier comments by a partner reflect ordinary day-to-day prioritization decisions on anti-cheat issues across all platforms and not any change in long-term priority for Linux.
.. that's an odd combination of lots of words to deny support hasn't 'paused'. Lets break them down.

Easy Anti-Cheat still provides native Linux support and will continue to do so.
Well, yes, technically, but doesn't necessarily mean that development hasn't paused.

Wait, whose decisions? Facepunch's or EAC's? Sounds like EAC's? It doesn't sound like they're denying this but just qualifying it..

not any change in long-term priority for Linux.
To me, to be honest, this sounds like 'the pause is only short term'.. which makes sense since that's what a pause is.

Well, enough of the bad, looking on the good side..

EAC/Wine compatibility is currently in a beta state with several games whose help we appreciate, but significantly more work is needed to get it to a suitably stable and hardened level for all.
Well. That could be a positive message? Maybe. If this implies work is ongoing between Valve and EAC, and compatibility is getting there, then we could have EAC compatibility in a few months? Which would be amazing of course.

I don't know, there's a lot of PR talk in this.

Easy Anti-Cheat are apparently "pausing" their Linux support, which could be a big problem (updated)

Stuff like this just increases the amount of appreciation I have for Valve sticking firmly in our corner and supporting us.

Sounds like made up excuses to me.

Psyonix, creator of Rocket League is joining Epic Games (updated)

Everyone, Epic Games!
Lets all thank them for bringing COMPETITION to gaming RIGHT?!

So there goes a Linux native game. An actual game with an actual native Linux title, will be bought and locked up in a store that doesn't support Linux. It will no longer be available for purchase and play on Linux because of Epic.

After suggesting a developer drop Linux support, Vivox have released a statement
1 May 2019 at 2:38 pm UTC Likes: 55

Imma keep it real with ya chief - That response is 100% PR Talk

They got busted. All of that response is just code for:

"We're not going to support Linux until we think it's financially worth it and we still don't think it is and truth be told we don't think it's financially worth it for our customers to do so either, but now we know developers who ask about Linux support might rat on us to reddit to make us look bad, we're going to give a canned 'Sorry we do not currently support Linux at this time but we might support Linux in the future.' response next time a developer asks about Linux support instead of our honest opinion."

That last line in particular makes it clear, don't expect Vivox to support Linux any time soon.
