Speculation: BioShock Infinite Might Be an eON port

Concerning the subject of eON, i'm pleased and concerned at the same time.

On one hand, developers with a lack of access to certain games source code can be brought to Linux. It is also useful to bring titles which wouldn't feature on Linux due to developers inability to port (for whatever reason). This is where I get concerned...

If eON is successful, then it might encourage alot of developers not to port their titles natively. On top of that, if successful, it would be in eON's interest to garner as much support from developers to sustain themselves.

It will be interesting to see how this pans out. Honestly, I feel it's in Linux Gaming's interest to have titles ported natively....we don't see Linux titles being organized through a wrapper to work in Windows...so why should we?

Steam's January 2014 Hardware Survey Has a Linux Drop

Honestly, until we have a comprehensive library of games (especially the AAA titles) on Linux, equivalent to Windows, these surveys don't indicate anything significant at this point.

Quoting: Quote from SilviuI'm quite sure that those guys know what they need to do. They lack the manpower to actually do it.
Alright, I can see how my original post could come off as arrogant and self-entitled...so let me elaborate a little.

I don't discredit or lack appreciation for the epic work the WINE team has done. Also, I have a limited understanding to what man-power, skills and time is required to work on WINE (what has been invested, currently is and will be). The only reason I mentioned DX10/11 support is that it will help improve gaming on Linux much, much more.

There will come a point where most games will support Linux as well....so for the back catalog, for titles that will never be ported, WINE is the go-to software to take care of that. So games form x point onward, native Linux...prior Windows titles will be run via WINE. As alot of games now, from this point onward, will be working with DX11 it makes sense to add it as soon as they can. This is from the perspective of seeing Linux gaming improve. :)

Crowdfunding & Early Access Are Not Ruining PC Gaming

Despite some perceivable cons, this is great for gaming overall. It keeps communication and intentions far more open (between devs and gamers) more than ever before; thus, keeping interest and overall enthusiasm alive. This model is definitely profitable for everyone in the ecosystem; again, both developers and gamers.

Personally, what makes this thoroughly exciting is that we will start getting more games which aren't the typical AAA games which, in alot of cases, shouldn't even be regarded as AAA....cost of producing, maybe...but actual gameplay and enjoyment; pushing the boundaries.....no. :)

The progress of WINE is great but they need to start adding support for DX10/11 soon.
