So does this mean that Wine will support the `Windows Speech Recognition Engine`? If so that would be great, as it would mean i could use the Dovahkiin Speaks Naturally mod.

There was another Luxtorpeda like tool that made use of dosbox, and one that used scummvm. I'm sure a lot of steam deck owners would love to see those.
Don't expect GOG to support the Steam Deck

Literally the only reason I would buy games from GOG is if they weren't available elsewhere, which is the case with some older games.
520 games are now rated either Verified or Playable for Steam Deck

The unsupported games are Insurgency, Persona 4 Golden and Lara Croft and the Temple of Osiris.

Quoting: 3qET7rL9BdI might be misunderstanding but it doesn't look like a clean room implementation like OpenRA, CorsixTH, OpenMW and GemRB. Instead they've reversed engineered the binaries to get the source code.Ya, that's not how that works. Literally all open source implementations reverse engineer the original binaries. (even Zdoom, as the support for games like strife and the like had to be reverse engineered). That's how it's done. ScummVM for example recommends that new contributors should use a combination of debuggers and IDAPro (A tool for reverse engineering). And even then, reverse engineering doesn't give you the source code, rather it gives you c-like pseudocode for a given function, pseudocode which lacks names, types, structs, and has plenty of mistakes. It's a long and arduous process to reverse engineer anything.

Cool. This is essentially a PC version of the DS game Picross 3D. I loved that game.

And they actually did discuss Leisure Suit Larry and Voyeur

Quoting: LightkeyYup, it was sev, this were his words in the discordQuoting: monyarmMy project targets visual novels, including NSFW ones. I've discussed it with the devs on the Discord, and most of them are okay with upstreaming support for older SFW visual novels (Like Clannad or Kanon), but the NSFW ones (the porn/doujinshi games), and the relatively new-ish ones (like Persona), It was a no from the devs, infact one of them said that if a NSFW game was upstreamed they'd quit. And yet they already support the Leisure Suit Larry series and a game literally called Voyeur [External Link], similar to Night Trap. Let me guess, it was sev?

i still don't understand why nsfw content is an issue
sev 05/13/2020
@Henke37 simple reason: not compatible with me
the day you add it to scummvm, I will leave
so, you may gather all devs, decide to still add it, and I'm saying goodbye
there are no technical problems with it

We do have an engine for Plumbers don’t wear ties...
And Leisure Suit Larry may be crossing some lines, but presumably not as many as the ones you’re mentioning
Mataniko 05/13/2020
i think there is a very wide gap between the two
trembyle 05/13/2020
We have Voyeur
DreamMaster 05/13/2020
But that's not very NSFW. As far as I remember there was no nudity or explicit sex. Just adult themes at worst
trembyle 05/13/2020
The wiki says that it "features" nudity. Maybe that needs to be changed.
DreamMaster 05/13/2020
Well it's been some years since I worked on it, so my memory may be wrong. But I do recall there wasn't anything that could be considered pornographic. So even if there is brief nudity, then that'd be the worst of it

Quoting: EikeDepends on the game, alot of games share an engine, and there are existing open source versions. But for alot of games it'll be either an engine per game, or the game will have to have multiple subengines.Quoting: monyarmMy project targets visual novels, including NSFW ones. I've discussed it with the devs on the Discord, and most of them are okay with upstreaming support for older SFW visual novels (Like Clannad or Kanon), but the NSFW ones (the porn/doujinshi games), and the relatively new-ish ones (like Persona), It was a no from the devs, infact one of them said that if a NSFW game was upstreamed they'd quit.:-(
I'm surprised the support seems to be that game-specific. I was expecting more of an engine type of support, which then enables (maybe with some additional tweaks) several or even many games. So people could say this patch supports visual novel engine WhatEver, maybe mentioning some "safe" games, and leave the rest... in the dark.

Now i'm going to have to switch back to ScummVM. And unlike last time, I have a lot more than 5 commits.I guess you cannot bring them into upstream?
