Unity 5.6 will be the first version of Unity to have SDL for Linux

To nitpick, shouldn't this have been "whose"? :D (but I must say I would have worded it differently anyway - not a native speaker either, btw).

I am glad they took the SDL route. I didn't occur to me that they weren't already using it. I guess this explains quite a lot of the early bugs, especially concerning mouse handling.

SDL is such a great tool. It has been around for a long time, I never encountered any bugs, and its developer is now a Valve employee. However, it's not a magic bullet, if you want to make a good 3D game, you will probably have to use Vulank/OpenGL, and OpenAL. I emphasize the last word; HRTF is so great, and having a maximum number of games using OpenAL means we get it for free :)

This Na'Tosha seems to be one of the most dedicated developers we have. Many thanks to her and the whole (Linux) Unity team ! <3

'Super Rad Raygun' might be the retro action game you need, now on Linux

+1 stan :D

Now, it makes me want a game boy port, just for the sake of it (Retro City Rampage was intended to be a NES game - and was released - so it's definitely possible ^^)

Looks pretty cool, but I am not really into that kind of game. I may pick it up later, though.

Thank you a lot for your feedback. I hope this will clear a few misconceptions.
As for your game, I am sorry to say that I didn't buy it until the Humble Bundle (I wasn't even sure it was in my library to begin with).
I however remember looking at it quite a lot of times and wondering wether to buy it, but it didn't appeal too much for me... Tastes, you know :) I guess it's the same about every game, platform or thing ever made. Some people don't like chocolate cakes, hey.

So, while I feel a bit guilty about not really purchasing your game (even though I put non-linux games at 0 in my humble bundle purchase), I think those figures are pretty accurate, expected, and, most of all, interesting. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it, too.
I must say that given those figures, I was expecting a bit more hostility (à la Garry Newman :) ) towards this market. I however still have some hope that it will grow even more in the following years. Plus, being multi-platform is "future proofing" [External Link], and has quite a lot of advantages that don't need to be detailed here. But that's very true that it's different from actually supporting a game. I guess that continuous integration with unit test would help, here, but that could be said of any project, and requires testing anyway.

I don't have any magic bullet for solving those issues, but now I have something to chew on for the next couple of days :)

P.S: On the plus side, you could now probably provide a Steam Marines build for the Raspberry [would be cool to see a steam-like store there], Smart TVs, car infotainment systems, the steam controller, and maybe some toaster out there. How cool is that? :D (and how useless, btw).

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided released for Linux, port report and review

Should I pick up this one right away, or quickly return to Windows and finish HR to avoid Spoilers?

With that said, I will probably wait for Zen to upgrade my motherboard, RAM and CPU, and maybe vega for my next GPU, depending on my finances.

The latest Steam Client Beta has sorta broken downloads and updates for some Linux users

Got this on my ext4 and btrfs drives, but figured the workaround.

Nothing unexpected in a beta, that's what they are for, after all ;)

Quoting: apocalyptechNow, I'm sure that much of what I'm used to could be replicated in other WMs/DEs with enough configuration work, but it's difficult to argue with the ability to just keep on using essentially the same config I've been using since 2000/2001 or so.
Well, that's the case, at least for KDE. But I'll grant you the second part.

Quoting: cxphergmailcomWhen steam adds DS4 support, some devs may choose to use it but if you use GOG for gaming extensively, might be better to stick to Xbox 360 controller.
The DS4 will be supported exactly the same way the Steam Controller is. So every game with steam controller support should support the DS4 (except for missing in-game icons, maybe?)

Question, Liam: Why using some png images and not the svg ones in the article? For some compatibility reason?

Linux gamers are sweet-talking Aspyr Media again

I do not expect this trend to stop anytime soon.

With that said, the content of the boxes could change if no port is announced, huehuehue <insert devil smiley here> (just kidding).

Space Wars: Interstellar Empires, a turn-based tactical strategy MMO is coming to Linux next year
31 Oct 2016 at 7:19 pm UTC

Quoting: Purple Library GuyHow do you even have turn-based MMOs? Wouldn't everyone spend the entire time waiting for other people to take turns?
You do, but they are often time-limited, and the game can be quite fun regardless. Then, I can't say for this specific game, but I played Dofus some time ago, where the combat is turn-based.

That said, I still didn't find a RT4X to my liking on Linux (addmitedly, I didn't spend that much time looking for one). I just miss Sins Of A Solar Empire.

'The Last Leviathan', a physics-based, ship building and destruction adventure game in Early Access for Linux

Ha, I just remembered a random video from Nexter's lab about it: View video on youtube.com

This game looks pretty fun, but kind of repetitive. It also has a some sort of a besiege vibe. Or so it seems.

Edit: watched the video again. Not the greatest, I must say. I apologise.

Thanks, at this price, that's an instabuy ! :D
Low price though high enough to support the developers. Installing as I am writing this.

And there I am, I was planning to work on some personal projects this week-end... I guess that's a higher priority interruption, right? :D
