Darn, I missed the deadline, I had so much to say :|

Kitten Space Agency is the spiritual successor to Kerbal Space Program

I'll be honest, I would be much more interested in an open source remake.

Still, I'm happy to see that someone picked up this project. KSP needs some developer love.

In the open source world, I know of Orbiter, for instance: https://github.com/orbitersim/orbiter [External Link] but it's more of a space sim than a sandbox. Are there others?

Unreal Tournament 2004 is getting revived by OldUnreal with approval from Epic Games

This is awesome, though I wish it was open sourced as well.

Now, can we publish it on FlatHub (with a downloader)?

Valve's version of Android on Linux (based on Waydroid) is now called Lepton

Quoting: PyrateIs there any indication of this working differently than Waydroid when it comes to ARM-only APKs ? Currently on Waydroid, only x64 APKs work, ARM ones work only after installing an inadequate emulator.
Given that the target platform seems to be the Planck, which uses an ARM CPU, I doubt it. In practice, a tool similar to FEX could work.

According to Epic CEO Tim Sweeney - game stores don't need an AI label as it will be everywhere

The irony. An AI tag being relevant for art exhibits, but not videogames? Are videogames not art, then? It is telling how Tim thinks about games. But then, id software epic games do not have a particularly high artistic value (subjectively, of course).

KDE Plasma going all-in on Wayland and will drop the X11 session completely

I fully agree with bisbyx above, nothing prevents a compositor from implementing this today, or even a separate app, like KDE devs did for X11 screen capture compatibility. Obviously better if the apps register shortcuts themselves, though.

Quoting: syylkviewport/video memory sharing
Now I don't understand this. We already have dma-buf.

Back to the article: an interesting tidbit is that, last time I checked, the Steam Deck was still using the X11 session. I wonder if they are going to change this?

Now I wonder if Valve will participate in the VR event?

I was not impressed by the waffle truck. Tasted like the batter mix you buy at a discount shop
Maybe you picked the wrong truck, maybe it was a different kind of waffle, or maybe we have different tastes. Who knows? I have fond memories of Liège waffles with their sugar starting to caramelize inside and outside, sweet, warm, soft, and a bit chewy & crunchy from the caramel. Or maybe I was freezing and starving at that moment and it was just what I needed. It's true that food trucks are not known to offer the best food ever.

FOSDEM itself is for free, so it's just plane tickets and accommodation. Yeah, I would chip in.
Don't forget our favorite reporter's fees

Besides the compensation, Liège Waffles from the food trucks probably need a dedicated budget line. Club Maté drinks also deserve a special mention, they are everywhere at FOSDEM.

Two years ago, there were a few extremely interesting BoF events on VR, I got to learn about some interesting projects, involving OpenXR, inside-out tracking, the Microsoft mixed reality platform, and some vrchat-like games. Unfortunately, I cannot be more specific than that as I cannot find it on the archived schedule.

Anyway, this event is always so interesting, it was about time a devroom was dedicated to this kind of content. In my experience, devrooms and BoF are much more interesting than the big talks at FOSDEM (which you can watch online later, though you don't get the QA+hallway discussions, but most speakers are available at their stand).

I won't be able to join this year, but I would be interested in joining a fundraiser to help GoL cover the event ;)
