Dying Light is due to get a massive patch next week which should have the performance fixes we have been waiting on, a load of free content, and a new DLC too.
Finally we come to issue #42, which seems an appropriate occasion to come clean and confess that we are not really The Funding Crowd, but merely A Funding Crowd. Didn't you hear that we come in six-packs?
I decided to write down some thoughts on Steam Machines, and Linux Gaming in general as I've seen quite a few articles on other publications about the imminent demise of Steam Machines and Linux Gaming that are rammed full of annoyances from writers who seem to want it to fail.
Feral Interactive have been great for Linux with their ports, and it's time we took a proper look at XCOM: Enemy Unknown. This has been played through with the expansion Enemy Within which I feel is an essential extra.
Those following Dying Light would have probably seen Techland's recent posts about disabling mod support, and the reaction to it. Well, you will probably be interested in the fact that Techland are now working on some official mod tools. It also looks like another patch is due soon!
Do you know what day it is? Yes, it's indeed Livestream Friday! It's time to enjoy the weekends and we have three new games to play for the enjoyment of you, the viewers. So buckle up and let's test out Soul Axiom, Crimsonlands and Lords of Xulima!
Techland's Dying Light is off to a very bad start, but the developers look like they will do everything they can to fix it, and this includes re-allowing modding. The Linux version should be polished up too from their latest reply to me.
So... Dying Light. A triple A day one Linux port. Now that would sound awesome but sadly releasing games in a horrible state is trendy and Techland seems to have wanted a piece of that cake. Let's list the problems, shall we?
It has been an eventful week and to wrap it up we have our traditional Friday Livestream where we chill out, play games and talk about gaming on Linux in general.
Thanks to pointers from our community member xpander69, we have found that Dying Light can be played almost acceptably on Linux with some messing around with the files. Updated.
It's quite hard to contain my excitement about this game, but as always we will give it a fair look and tell you what we think about Dying Light. This post continues to be updated, and it's really not good. Updated 28th January for game-breaking bugs.
Dying Light is now confirmed for Linux thanks to the announcement from the developers on the Steam store itself. The Linux icons show up on the store pages, and the game even has a steam coming soon banner on the home-page. Time to get seriously excited.
