Ankh 3 adventure game officially coming to Linux !

Ankh 3 has been added recently into the Bitbucket account of RuneSoft.

That means Ankh 3 will be ported to Linux soon. Ankh and Ankh 2 were ported by RuneSoft and distributed by online retailers years ago. Ankh 3 was never ported due to the lack of interest by the Linux community.

Jack Keane, a game similar to Ankh that was also ported by Linux by RuneSoft, was released on Desura a few weeks ago.

It seems the situation changes, as RuneSoft recently announced they will bring Earth 2140 to Linux, and now confirm they will port Ankh 3: Battle of the Gods.

RuneSoft is now the main company that ports Windows games to Linux, LGP being totally silent. They aren't the only ones porting to Linux though as we as ever still have Ryan "Icculus" Gordon, Ethan Lee and Humble Bundle of course. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Article cleaned up and accepted, fun news indeed!

Does this mean that they view their Desura releases to have been successes?

Agreed;  I have the same question, Hamish.

Runesoft does not talk about sales. But according to stats, Robin Hood was very succesfull, Northland was somewhat successfull also.

Airline Tycoon & Jack Keane were not.

They sell more games on Desura than Ubuntu Software Center, and not quite a bit !

Desura is definitely becoming a true alternative to retail channels and Steam.

Robin Hood is still a really good game (outside the voice acting) -- Commandos, but with bows and arrows.

Looking forward to this port though, I really enjoyed the first two games (and I didn't actually know there was a third).
