Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded is out now for Linux

By - | Views: 30,780

Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded is out now for Linux! The game follows the life of Larry Laffer, a loveable loser who is a balding, dorky, double entendre-speaking, leisure suit-wearing "lady’s man".

I am sure this will be awesome news to quite a few of you, it's quite a big name game.

Features

  • Expanded puzzles, locations, and gameplay
  • Gorgeous, all-new high-res 16:9 backgrounds
  • Over 3,000 frames of hand-drawn animation!
  • Sophisticated lighting and spot animations enliven every location
  • Thousands of humorous responses allow Players to enjoy exploring everything onscreen
  • Hilarious branching dialogues with the main characters
  • All-new Vegas-style musical score
  • Fully voiced by the actors who originated the roles
  • Redesigned by Al Lowe and Josh Mandel
  • PC, Mac, iOS, Android

Released today, they claim that it's the first Kickstarted game to be shipped (lolwut);

QuoteAnd it appears that Leisure Suit Larry: Reloaded will be the first Kickstarted game to ship!

Not exactly sure what they mean by this as plenty of Kickstarted games have already shipped? I contacted them about it and they said this:

QuoteAl is speaking in context of the Sierra adventure games crowd. Thanks for the email.

It does sound a bit misleading but it's a very minor point, just something that struck me as odd and could be made much clearer to mean it's 'their' first Kickstarter that has been released.

What over kickstarter games have shipped though?  At least of anything near this size and was started after a kickstater was launched?

I think what they mean is that it's the first big, high-pledge Kickstarter (adventure) game to be released after Tim Schafer started the "Kickstarter game revolution" with his DoubleFine-Adventure. But you are rigght, it isn't very well formulated - they should have stated it differently.
However, it may be my first Kickstarter game (and I didn't even pledge).

As I have understood it elsewhere this is the first kickstarted game to have literally shipped, as in had a boxed retail release.

It looks like I won't be buying this. GOG obviously doesn't have the Linux version but what is worse it appears the Linux version is not on Steam either and you have to buy it on the Replay Games website. But there are two problems with that: A)You need an account there and B) You must choose one platform. Windows OR Linux OR Mac.

A) may not have stopped me were it not for B). But so long as I can't get this with Steamplay or the equivalent I am not getting this.

Wow that's quite bad, I have emailed them to get some answers.

To have Steam Play for Windows and Mac only yet buy on their site for only one platform, that's stupid.

Someone on the GOG forums is claiming it is an error with the games description on Steam and that it actually does have the Linux version. The only thing I know is that TUX is missing on the games Steam page.

Edit:

Fixed the error.

SteamDB supports that theory:

This has got to be a screwup, guys.  As Double Fine used to say when their Linux games were coming up on Steam, probably "Valve has some more buttons to press".  I agree with Kristian that the prudent thing to do is to wait for all the B.S. to be figured out first... but I also agree with Liam that the right thing to do is to give them a head's up.

Replay probably has no idea this is happening!

(Currently experiencing an error for the second time where I can only write in the quoted text)

Yeah, I really hate that bug.  Anyway, I fixed it here... you can fix your post manually by going into markup-mode and just moving the text to between the second-to-last "[/quote]" and last one.

Hmm I was sure we fixed that bug, it no longer happens to me. Kristian can you post in the forum here:

Trying to trace this bug down as it works for me in both chromium and firefox.
