Deep SIlver's AAA games could come to linux

By - | Views: 40,256
Some of you may have been disappointed by the latest Humble Bundle being Windows only, well the good news is the developers are looking at Linux right now.

It is quite likely (pure speculation) that this is due to Linux statistics from bundle.

I am talking about this post on their reddit AMA:

Can we count on native Linux versions for your current/next games? It would be super awesome. :)

i would say there is a good chance ;)

So in future we could see titles like Saints Row and Dead Island come to Linux, that would be a huge boon for us as they are major titles!

So thanks to them being in a Humble Bundle we could see future titles actually come to Linux, it probably helps that the second highest payment was from a @LinuxGamers twitter account, good work!

Remember though folks, don't go buying the games yet if you don't want to be disappointed in-case it turns out to be another Unreal Tournament 3 eh ;) Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

If they gave us something a little more concrete, then I would be willing to take the risk. Even if they only committed to 100% to one game in the bundle.

I'd like to say, that Deep Silver would then become my favorite VG company/publisher/whatever, but it already is :D

I still wonder ... usually, our (German) companies are ... well ... slow considering new developments. Although it's just a very small hint, I'm really surprised - far more than I expected.

I have decided to not ignore partially or wholly Windows or Steam bundles any more but I never give a Humble tip and in this case since it was the worse kind 100% Steam only AND 100% Windows only at the same time I didn't give Deep Silver a cent. So 100% of my $26 contribution went to charity.

I have a friend with a Windows box that I can game on sometimes so I bought the bundle. I'd play a lot more at home if the games came to Linux.

"which is of course thanks to being in the bundle"

That's not obvious at all. How did you come to that conclusion? Source?

Didn't we hear something similar many times?
IIRC, the CEO of THQ (I know it's defunct by now) twittered something
like "Oh, you want Linux support? Then we'll have a look." after many
Linux users were upset about the Win-only THQ HumbleBundle.

I'll take it with tweakedenigma: I won't get my hopes high
until they release the first AAA native Linux binary.

According to cheese who spoke to Jeff (Humble's owner) they are impressed with our numbers from the bundle.

Ok, then you should say that in the post, and put a link. It looks like you're just making it up otherwise.

It was from IRC.

Also why else would they be looking at it since they have no Linux stats other than from this bundle? There AMA is also because of the bundle, it's not hard putting them together to the conclusion of....it's because of the bundle.
