Aspyr Media Plans More Linux Games In The Next 6 Months UPDATED

Aspyr Media are starting to be fan favourites with their open communication. They can't give full details of course, but they have given us hints about more games coming to Linux.

Speaking on reddit one of their team stated this:
Aspyr BlairI have a confession to make team Linux.

In addition to the super secret project that shall never be named;), there will be 2 more Linux projects coming from Aspyr over the next 6 months. One of them you don't know you love yet...the other, you already do.

Its going to be a great year for Linux and Mac gaming.

It's not clear if this includes the new Civilization game or not, but it's still good to know they are working their asses off to bring us some big name games.

What games do you think it will be? I am seriously hoping for some Star Wars games as a long time fan.

For those really not in the loop: Aspyr Media are the studio behind the Borderlands and Civilization ports for Linux.

UPDATE: It has been confirmed by Aspyr that Civilization: Beyond Earth is not included in this announcement, and that there are actually 7 games, not 2, to be released over the next 6 months for Linux.

AspyrCorrect, this is in addition.

Actually the count just got bumped to 7 O.O

Aspyr <3 Linux

It should be noted this includes DLC. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

I'm not particularly keen on Feral's attitude towards Linux ports so far, so I'm not going to hold my breath for them to be releasing very much if anything in future.

Hey, if Aspyr wants Linux money and Feral doesn't, then Aspyr gets money.

Quoting: SabunI really love these guys, and Feral! I'm ready and waiting to buy their next game. I've already bought Borderlands The Pre-Sequel because of them (I've never bought a Borderlands game on release before).
+1 on Feral and Aspyr respect!

Aspyr did a really excellent job on Borderlands and I have really high hopes on them.

On the Feral note, just got my hands on XCOM:EU (yeah I know, I'm a bit late on that one) and I'm loving the performance and stability. :)

I'm expecting Bioshock Infinite:

Of course, this might mean the Mac port, but they have got Linux developers, they already ported it to Mac and they've got such a great game to port...

Feral's XCOM port was absolutely amazing!

Yes, they did a good job on XCOM, but their attitude as a whole seems to be of vague disinterest (remember the coming games radar?).

Quoting: coesetaMy guess is that it is either Bioshock Infinite or a game that isn't out yet :>
I don't think it will be Bioshock.Proof:Feralshock
Well, Bioshock 1 and 2 were ported by Feral.
Bioshock Infinite were ported by Aspyr. So this is not proof for Bioshock Infinite

Personally I don't care about their interest as long as the ports they actually do are awesome. :)

Sure I hope that one day I could game along like I used to in the olden days, when everything was dark and I had to pay my bills to the (potentially evil) Lord(s) of Redmond.

But to me I totally understand if they don't push that hard. Feral only ports games and of course they need to have some kind of income. I mean, if there is no market for certain games or it simply doesn't pay of for them I do understand there is no real push from their side.

These are a lots of "ifs", but (sadly) we live in a really money centered world and I guess they have their reasons ;)
