7 Days To Die Finally Has Hope For The Linux Version

It's been a bumpy ride for 7 Days To Die as we have extensively covered here, but the developers finally decided to update Linux users waiting on it.

I still don't see what's so hard for developers to be open with communication (Developers could take notes from Aspyr Media on their recent blog posts), but that aside if they do actually release 7 Days To Die on Linux as promised then the issues we had with them will have gone.

Speaking in their latest official update was this note:
QuoteLinux Client and Dedi
Yes finally we’re getting dangerously close with the Linux client and dedi barring one show stopper the guys are working on it as we speak.

It would have been nice to get more information on this one issue, but having word in an official update is still great. This was their first official mention of Linux since July where they stated they needed more time and pointed people to use Wine.

I can't wait for it to actually be out. I backed this on Kickstarter and have been highly unimpressed with their lack of updates for Linux backers. There have been heated moments in this saga of trying to get "The Fun Pimps" to be more open about what's happening with the Linux version. Their community moderator temporarily banning me with a message of "stink on this" was one of them. Hopefully this can all be laid to rest soon, but even if we end up liking 7 Days To Die we have a very sour experience with them.

Official About
Building on survivalist and horror themes, players in 7 Days to Die can scavenge the abandoned cities of the build-able and destructible voxel world for supplies or explore the wilderness to gather raw materials to build their own tools, weapons, traps, fortifications and shelters. In coming updates these features will be expanded upon with even more depth and a wider variety of choices to survive the increasing dangers of the world. I own it, have played it, and it's disappointing. I did have fun for the first 4 hours I admit. Then you realise there isn't any real content. It's got good ideas, and has potential. I just don't see it reaching that potential with these devs. You think rust develops slow? think again.
They keep adding new crap to the game and never fixing what's already there.
This is one of those "early access" titles you should avoid.
Maybe if it ever does full release, it might be worthy of your money.

Of coarse this is all completely the opinion of myself, my partner and my father. You may be happy with it :)

EDIT: Also made with Unity engine. And like most unity engine fps games(except Interstella marines)
it runs very poorly for the sort of gfx you get.

One of the few games my friends play and I cannot join. Even worse, it was my recommendation and my 4-pack that got it into their hands in the first place.

I've played it on Windows for about 80h. It is a fun game but with each update it has been shifting more and more towards hardcore gamers. I really wish they would finish the promised features first before losing themselves in the details.

This game has a lot of potential but in the end, it will probably cater towards a very small hardcore playerbase.

I already gave up the hope and thought: Damn, I payed another windows only development.
