Parkitect - What Roller Coaster Tycoon Should Have Grown Into

By Guest - | Views: 16,210
Having grown up in the 90's one of the greatest games I played was Roller Coaster Tycoon. Like sandbox games Kerbal Space Program, or Sim City; RCT let you create insane roller coasters and uniquely set up parks. Sadly since Chris Sawyer left the quality has gone down, and the series is reduced to a freemium mobile app. Since I migrated to Linux, I hoped the series or something comparable would come to Linux. Parkitect might be the game that fills the void.

Parkitect maintains the basic formula that RCT has built. Create theme parks, design roller coasters, and keep guests happy! There are some unique twists however, such as having to create a park infrastructure. From maintenance access, supply chains, to guest transport, you're tasked with creating an easily accessible park for your staff. One of the most useless things in RCT was scenery, now scenery is essential for keeping the illusion of a fantasy world for your guests.

Parkitect is due to go into early access - August 2015.

Quoting: coeseta*throws money at screen* Take it! TAKE IT!

I feel the same way... Unless it is filled with those stupid in-game purchases or even worse, uses a so-called "freemium" pricing model.

But, if I can buy and play this just like any other game with a one-off fee, I'm sold... In fact, I'm so impressed, I'll probably have this on or about Launch Day!
