Alabaster Dawn is a fresh top-down 2.5D action RPG from Radical Fish Games, the developers of the excellent CrossCode. Early user reviews from it on Steam are painting quite a positive picture for it, and it's already rated Very Positive overall. It has full Linux support right away too.
The developer said they took the "best aspects" of CrossCode to make this new world with a deep and engaging combat system, challenging puzzles and an epic story set in a curious world full of secrets to discover and places to explore.

A little history on development of it:
"Development on Alabaster Dawn has started around the time the last CrossCode DLC (A New Home) has been released. Initially (and for a long time) known as "Project Terra", the Project started by... writing a new engine. Just like CrossCode, the game is based on HTML5. However, this time we decided to use WebGL to support 3D graphics. Additionally we decided to rewrite our entire CrossCode codebase from JavaScript to TypeScript in order to simplify ports for consoles. After several years of prototyping and building a new solid foundation... we finally settled for the name "Alabaster Dawn" and were ready to properly start working on all that content we've planned! In 2025 we released a demo version on Steam with overwhelmingly positive reception. Now in 2026 we will finally release an Early Access version of Alabaster Dawn that will feature part of the content. With early access we plan to support an extended development time and gather more feedback to bring the game to its best possible state."
Some highlights:
- A unique 2.5D art style combing pixelart with a subtle 3D perspective.
- A deep combat system featuring combo trees, 4 elements, and 8 unique weapons that can be quickly switched between at any time.
- A large environment to explore that will change and develop as the game progresses.
- Settlements that will be built from rubbles into bustling towns.
- Several larger dungeons filled with puzzles and large boss fights.
- A complete RPG system with leveling, equipment, and skill trees.
- A unique cooking system that combines healing and buff consumables with a leveling system, designed to avoid item hoarding.
- All the exploration and jumping that you loved (...or hated) from CrossCode. The 3D helps with the perspective!
- A detailed movement system with auto-jumping and precise collision.
- An engaging story about rebuilding a civilization with lots of surprising twists.
- Original soundtrack by Deniz Akbulut (aka Nagi Shirakumo).
With it being in Early Access, it's nowhere near finished. Still enough for around 5-10 hours but they think it's only about 20% of the game. They expect at least 2 years until it's all finished. So this is proper Early Access, not just a game that's nearly done thrown up for a few weeks of bug fixes. They're developing it as they go with community feedback.
