The developers themselves emailed both Age of Fear: The Undead King & Age of Fear 2: The Chaos Lord in for me to take a look at. They told me the games don't look like much, but offer a lot, and they were right.
The graphics aren't great, and there's very little in the way of animation, but there's a lot of story content to read through which is well written by the looks of it.

They are a mix of adventure, RPG and strategy games with a little bit of each thrown in. Your characters can level up and gain abilities based on how much XP you have available, and you get simplistic turn based battles.
They actually remind me of some classic games available on GOG, only they are still being updated with new features and bug fixes as time goes on. If you like your old-school RPG and strategy games, these two could be a winner for you. Not my cup of tea mind you, as the combat is a bit too basic for me. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Everything about this trailer and the game graphics screams low production budget.
When gratuitous Blood or Real Life Magic Spells are the "Special Effects" it just says un-creative and lazy to me.
L4D2 is more scary than this minus the attempt at a demonized chick freak show.
Also that skeleton king looks constipated, some on get him some Smooth Moves tea or laxatives - he looks like he needs to make use of the throne.
Pass.

I've been playing it for a bit. It looks like it's made by just one guy, but he's doing a good job of releasing updates quite frequently and is active on the Steam forums.
The story has the occasional spelling mistake, but it's interesting enough and it hooks you once you get going with it.
As Liam says, the gameplay is somewhat basic (at least at the point I've played to so far). New units get added to the mix as you progress, so it keeps up some variety.
Quite a few hours worth of playtime for the price.
