Changes to login on GOL

By - | Views: 7,932
Just a heads up about some changes to our Login system and the cookies we set. You can now stay logged in on more than one device.

You may have noticed that you were logged out (if you didn't wait till you close the browser), as I have finished up allowing people to stay logged in on multiple devices (desktop, laptop, phone anyone?).

If you notice anything funky/not working, please clear your cookies for gamingonlinux.com before you send in a bug report. I've tested it locally a lot, and now it seems to work fine on the live site for me too, but you never can tell.

It will email you when a new device logs in for the first time (no device cookie set/confirmed against what's set), I will pop up an option to disable those emails when times allows, but it shouldn't happen often once you have done it initially, unless you browser/device hop all the time.

Update: You can disable the emails in the UserCP under the Security heading on the initial page. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Nice, I often switch between surfpadd/desktop and it's neat not to need to constantly log in (when you're responding to different comments at different times 'n stuff)

The mail I've got doesn't display right in Kmail, neither as plain text nor as HTML.
Plain text ony shows the "Login detected from: ..." line, HTML view shows nothing, only white.

Is there any way I can turn off the "We have detected a login from a new device...." email? Basically I clear all my history, including cache and cookies when I close firefox. Everytime I relog back on GoL it sends me a new email and it's kinda annoying.

In Thunderbird, it only shows the content of the e-mail if I manually change it to text-only (i.e. Thunderbird won't auto-detect this particular e-mail's format)... Otherwise I just get a blank (white) e-mail with the subject "GamingOnLinux: New Login Notification".

Done, change it in the UserCP, checkbox under the security heading on the first page.

Those two are the same issue I imagine, the headers/dual content email body isn't being set exactly right somewhere then. Looks fine in gmail FYI.
