Batman: Arkham Knight for Linux & SteamOS cancelled

By - | Views: 37,852
Considering how terrible the Windows PC release of Batman: Arkham Knight was/is I’m not really surprised. Hopefully we will get some of the other better ones.

This is what a developer posted on Steam:
QuoteWe are very sorry to confirm that Batman: Arkham Knight will no longer be coming to Mac and Linux. If you have pre-ordered Batman: Arkham Knight for Mac or Linux, please apply for a refund via Steam.

While I’m not surprised by the news, I am still saddened by it. The Windows PC release was truly terrible as has been detailed quite widely, and they still haven't managed to fully patch it up.

I guess we have to bug the publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment about it since publishers are usually the ones who have the actual say in what happens.

Sad news, but XCOM 2 on Friday, Dying Light Enhanced Edition & The Following DLC and Firewatch next week. All those games coming to Linux in the space of a week! Remember to check our Release Calendar to keep up with it all.

Try not to be too sad about it my little cherubs. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

Damn...and the pile of "Can't Escape Dual Booting", just keeps growing. Because no matter how much it galls me, after playing through "Arkham Asylum" twice and playing through "Arkham City" with DLC:s and even "Akham Origins" & "Arkham Origins: Blackgate Deluxe", I'm simply not willing to miss out on this latest game. That's just how it is.

I really feel the need for some spectacular news and I need it fast: "Deus Ex: Mankind Divided", "Fallout 4", "Dishonored II", "Mafia 3", "Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen", "GTA V", "Doom"....basically some title that counts as a "huge, action-packed AAA top-of-the-charts extravaganza", to balance this loss.

Quoting: edoSo the best batman game ever (related to everything except performance) won't come to linux. Bad news definitely.

'The best' is *very* debatable. Certainly the largest, though.

If Feral gave up on it then it just goes to show how crappy of a game it really is. So no real loss honestly. I had my doubts about this port. but I was also curious to see what Feral could do with a already bad windows title.

Perhaps it is better this way than publish a shitty Linux port.

Mad Max?

You have to admit, though, Rock Paper Shotgun has a pretty creative title for the news article:

Batman foils Penguin

It hasn't been officially confirmed though, has it?

Yeeeah...almost but not quite. Mad Max is (in my eyes) an AA-title, not triple A. I'm not sure if that's a fair way to define it or not, but too me it just doesn't have the same kind of "Blockbuster Appeal" that the titles I mentioned have (or the Batman title for that matter).

Maybe it's nothing more than a matter of personal preference but it's not what I really want as an "Arkham Knight" replacement.
