Batman: Arkham Knight for Linux & SteamOS cancelled

By - | Views: 37,872
Considering how terrible the Windows PC release of Batman: Arkham Knight was/is I’m not really surprised. Hopefully we will get some of the other better ones.

This is what a developer posted on Steam:
QuoteWe are very sorry to confirm that Batman: Arkham Knight will no longer be coming to Mac and Linux. If you have pre-ordered Batman: Arkham Knight for Mac or Linux, please apply for a refund via Steam.

Source

While I’m not surprised by the news, I am still saddened by it. The Windows PC release was truly terrible as has been detailed quite widely, and they still haven't managed to fully patch it up.

I guess we have to bug the publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment about it since publishers are usually the ones who have the actual say in what happens.

Sad news, but XCOM 2 on Friday, Dying Light Enhanced Edition & The Following DLC and Firewatch next week. All those games coming to Linux in the space of a week! Remember to check our Release Calendar to keep up with it all.

Try not to be too sad about it my little cherubs. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

The reviews on Steam are awful. Everybody's complaining about performance issues and crashes. It's easy to see why it's been cancelled.

Sad news because I was really looking forward to this game.

I was actually surprised to see the port still on for so long, that is the news that I knew it will come one day.
(while secretly still hoping for a port performing better than in Windows)

Quoting: Shmerl
Quoting: BeamboomI can live with that - never was a Batman fan.

Now, let's just hope the same doesn't happen with the promised Witcher 3...

It shouldn't. CDPR aren't WB.

Sadly they'll do the same way they did with W2 : by VP port.

Well, at least they'll do.

Quoting: fscherrerDamn, I got a steam key with my nVidia card purchase... can't ask for refund :(

You can sell your Key over Steam in the trading forum.
I activated the key as soon as I got it :( (on June, I thought the GNU/Linux port would come right after the Windows release :/ ... so silly)

Don't blame yourself. This things happens.
You still may try to run it on Wine.

And here I was thinking I'd buy it since it's now on sale for 40% off. Hmm, I was initially thinking the sale was going to coincide with the Linux release, instead it coincide with them announcing it won't be released... how does that make any sense? Granted maybe it's on sale because they're EOL any support on it, because... well they screwed the goose on this one...

And this is why last summer I told you all - don't get your hopes up, game is unfixable. But some of you were like "oh the Linux port will be fixed of all the bugs". Hate to say I told so... but I did. Still, sad news.

Guess I'll just go play Batman on my Atari.

I strongly doubt it. VP were porting their OS X wrapper for TW2 which they already had to Linux. TW3 port is a from scratch one, so there is no need for them to do such a thing. Besides, they need to bring their current engine to Linux, and wrapper doesn't serve that purpose.
