Feral Interactive are teasing a new Linux port again

By - | Views: 71,634
Were you alarmed that Feral Interactive didn't have any new Linux ports listed on their radar? Worry no more, as a new UFO (Unidentified Feral Object) has appeared over Linux.

Here's the new teaser from the radar:

For those that can't read it, it says "FORT DU KREMLIN-BICETRE". The picture is of Maggie Simpson from the opening credits of, you guessed it, The Simpsons.

Just be aware this doesn't mean it's coming soon, it could be many months away, but it's still exciting to think about!

Does anyone have a clue? Go on, open up in the comments. Article taken from GamingOnLinux.com.

how you know? maybe its using Vulkan? ohh well AMD drivers suck even with Vulkan atm.

Well, it is most likely Hitman or another yet another Square Enix title. Everytime I see a Bethesda/ZeniMax title (Doom, Skyrim, Dishonored) wish, I shake my head with depression; it won't happen.

It might be a 2K or Sega title but I hardly think so. It must be Hitman.

I'm guessing Skyrim

I always guess Skyrim

Even if Skyrim came out, I'd still guess Skyrim

Me too. I rather support the under dog than a company selling way overpriced hardware, refusing to support opensource, spying on its users with GeForce experience (thanks god they have not ported that sh*t to Linux yet).

I have to say, if this does turn out to be the new Hitman, I'm not supporting it. Ignoring the "I hate always-online DRM" argument, I have satellite internet. It's naturally a bit spotty, and some things just don't work, probably thanks to the latency. I'm not going to pay for a gimped version of the game, seeing as how progression seems to be locked if you play offline. Hitman would be the perfect game for me if it weren't for that major decision.

On a lighter note, here's one of the branches.

Quoting: scorpickThe Fort de Bicêtre is near the DONTNOD Entertainment studio.

I would do things not for polite conversation to Feral if I could get Remember Me on Linux.

Such comments make me want a dislike button.

Which game was it they added official AMD support to months after the Linux release lately?

Could you point to another porting company that consistently does a significantly better job than Feral? I can't.
Plus, and you have to admit this, games not supporting AMD on Linux has been due to the pitiful state of AMD drivers. Now that RadeonSI actually has OpenGL 4.5 support (which came out almost 2.5 years ago, mind you), Feral has retroactively been adding official AMD support on older games. But until AMD has solid, relatively bug-free implementations of all of OpenGL and Vulkan, it's unreasonable to expect that they support AMD.
