I really don't like writing articles about games not coming to Linux, especially when I haven't ever mentioned this one. However, another site (yes—them again) is claiming Forged Battalion [Steam] will come to Linux, but it's not.

As always, I do my research and I double check everything I do whenever possible. I don't like to get anyone's hopes up and I hate it when people give out wrong information.

I've now personally spoken to Petroglyph, the actual developer of Forged Battalion, who had this to say about it and what the other site claims:

Hi Liam,

We currently have no plans to release on Linux.   Certainly, we would love to, but the Windows OS sales and demand on Linux would have to be quite considerable to make such an endeavor worthwhile.

Sorry, I don’t have better news for ya.

It's a shame, because it looks like exactly the type of strategy game I would absolutely adore. In this case, it's just another site giving out completely wrong information. This then results in multiple people emailing us saying it will come to Linux and I have to let people know the bad news. Sorry folks, but plenty of other great games to look at!

Update: Seems that other site has taken notice of our clarification here and updated their article.

As always, you can rely on GamingOnLinux for the facts.

Mistakes are possible and everyone can make some. It is not the fine way to blame other sites for mistakes. GOL did some in the past, too. Still waiting for DayZ, Dino D-Day and some other games ;-)

The only two times we mentioned DayZ (see here is where it was publicly stated that the developer was interested.

The single time Dino D-Day was mentioned (see here was again using public information where the developer said it.

Those are not mistakes, those are using publicly available information we are referencing.

The problem is, the linked site in the article constantly makes errors, which results in us getting emails about them because people think it's correct and I'm here to state what the developers tell me directly.

That same site only recently posted about Pillars of the Earth book 2 releasing next year, despite it releasing a week before they posted that. There was also an EVERSPACE updated for Linux article, it wasn't, it was an Xbox/Windows 10 only update for a feature that has been in the Linux version since release (they removed the entire article and reddit post when I mentioned it, without any word or a quick thanks). I don't think I need to continue, it's a long list ;)

The point is, information needs to be checked and Linux gamers deserve the right information.

Well, it IS just yet another RTS with uber-generic SciFi setting.
As much as I like RTS games, developers should start coming up with settings that are at least somewhat interesting...

This. No news in two month. I'd like to know what's making the port hard, having the engine running in Vulkan already. Would be interesting to know.
That game really could finally ease my need for a good RTS in Linux :-).

Quoting: GuestI've also seen other LGC/LGN articles stating a game is coming or on Linux when I couldn't find any information at all about that happening, and sources are usually not cited.
Well, that's modern gaming "journalism".
Only very few like GOL or Yong Yea do it properly.
