Talking point: What are you playing this weekend?

By - | Views: 32,619

It's nearly the end of January already, feels like the year is going rather quickly! With all the releases we've had lately along with some excellent games last year, what are you clicking on this weekend?

I'm rather sick from a nasty bug going around my Son's school so I shall mostly be moaning, groaning and playing something like Slay the Spire since it's ridiculously good and requires very little actual effort. Bonus points to it for working very nicely on my notebook so I can do it in bed.

I might also be catching up on some more Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus, since I've been having a lot of fun with it and the turn-based nature of it means I can take my time. I'm still in a little shock at just how atmospheric and stylish it is, they did a good job.

If you're stuck and looking for something new, Steam has two interesting sales going on right now. Their Aussie Sale 2019 runs until Monday and their Global Game Jam Sale is also on until tomorrow!

There's also the GOG Weekly Sale, there's a few days left on the Humble Double Fine Presents Bundle and the Caffeine bundle both with great games.

What are you playing and what do you think about it?

I've been getting back into playing CrossCode. It came out a few months ago and I never got around to finishing it.

Also this is a bit of an odd ball but I'm playing GCompris with my preschooler. He is at that age where he can learn to use a keyboard and mouse, and GCompris is perfect for him.

I'm trying to get Resident Evil 2 remake working, but it doesn't work due to stupid WMF, so I'm playing the Gamecube version of the original RE2 on Dolphin.

Caves of Qud, mostly. Although I might take a look at Slay the Spire later. I haven't played it since coming out of EA and I gather there's some new animations and such.

I agree with ya Liam, Mechanicus is pretty incredible in terms of atmosphere, and I am certainly posed to play a whole lot more of it.

For this weekend though it will be a mix of Crusader Kings 2, Path of Exile and Final Fantasy 14. :D

Also hope you feel better soon! Take care, Liam!

Replaying Kingdom Come: Deliverance via Proton. Love this game. Wish there were a native version for linux.

Kingdom: New lands. I have no idea what I'm doing, and I keep dying horribly. But you know... Still going.
Also, Elder Scrolls online, Via proton. Just because I am thoroughly enjoying the fishing...

Well, it's been over three weeks now, and I suspect The Witcher 3 will be with me for some time yet. What a game.

That, and tinkering with forced Proton on Steam.

Get well soon, Liam. I've been a bit under the weather myself this last week. It's that time of year, isn't it?

Oh, that's a good game. It's just a pity that it's a bit like Portal in that once you've solved all the puzzles and discovered the “twist in the tale”, there's not much incentive to play it again except for nostalgia's sake. There are a few good levels in the Steam Workshop, though. (And some fun easter eggs to find. :) )
