After a successful crowdfunding campaign back in September 2019, Chaosmonger Studio have announced that their cyberpunk point and click adventure Encodya will release on January 26, 2021. In an announcement done by their publisher Assemble Entertainment, they confirmed the release date will include Linux, macOS and Windows at the same time across the GOG and Steam stores.

Encodya follows a nine-year-old orphan and her clumsy robot guardian. Set in the year 2062, with parts of it inspired by Blade Runner, Studio Ghibli and Monkey Island it's looking pretty great.

"One day, the little girl discovers that her father left her an important mission: to finish his plan to save the world from grayness! Tina and SAM embark on an incredible adventure across different realities full of bizarre robotic creatures and grotesque human beings. Through puzzles and exciting dialogues, they’ll find out the true meaning of being alive."

Cyberpunk 2021. Which should obviously come way before Cyberpunk 2077. And so it shall be!

Really like the look of this! Finally a new point & click adventure that neither sports pixel art nor looks like a Flash game. (I do like pixel art, but I also like some variety).

Though of course the big question is how the actual puzzles will turn out. I'll sure be finding out come release day :-).

Wishlisted, this looks (and sounds) indeed really nice. Also very nice to have a scenario involving Berlin :)

Yeah, me too, but the developer explicitly said that it's Neo Berlin, not Berlin. (Quite East Asian, this Berlin. ;) )

Thanks for the note. I guess it won’t make much difference to me, just reading the name sometimes will I guess be enough to let the scenery feel somewhat familiar :)

State of Mind is also set in Berlin, but given that there aren't any big outdoor levels, it's not really recognizable. And Lost Horizon has a single chapter taking place in Berlin of 1936, with some famous landmarks on display, too.

As for the Asian vibe, I guess there's a latent fear that Asia will eventually become technologically and culturally superior, and that seems to rub off on cyberpunkish settings. Or it might just be a genre thing.
