Lutris game manager getting Ubisoft Connect integration

By - | Views: 17,129

Is any service safe from Lutris? Apparently not. This impressive free and open source game manager will gain support for another way to install games on Linux in an upcoming update.

Just like the previous article highlighting the upcoming Origin support, this newly introduced Ubisoft Connect is not available in a released build as they code has only recently been added to the GitHub development area. Lead dev Mathieu Comandon once again teased this on Twitter:

Once the new release is out it means Lutris will help Linux gamers sort through Steam, GOG, Humble Bundle, Origin, Ubisoft, Epic Games, lots of different emulators and more. It really is turning into the all-you-can-eat of Linux gaming.

Amazon at least, itch games can be downloaded manually but there is no easy way to get your amazon games on linux at the moment.

This is turning out to be a great release for lutris!

Is there any ETA for the new release?
Great news let's hope that all the origin services wil be less buggy these way. It would've been even better if I hadn't just spend 2 weeks downloading battlefield 4

its a hack or uplay has some official api? i hope ubisoft/epic dont break thirdy party apps on purpose.
" lots of different emulators and more."
i will pass for emulators, i already use retro arch for it, having 2 solutions would only make things confusing.

do lutris work with controller?

I'm betting Lutris are also getting prepared for Steam Deck.

Fantastic. If I can hide all these launchers behind just one launcher, my world has become more convenient! :)

I've tried pretty much every single "game hub" application for Linux out there and I can positively say that Lutris has always been hands-down the best of them. The only thing it needs imho is a full-scale UX retouch, because honestly its usability sucks - it's full of unintuitive processes and hidden or undocumented options and tweaks (which, if you discover them, make the app even better). If they fix the UI, Lutris will be close to perfect.

P.S. - Even the icon is goddamn ugly :P

You know I just learned that Uplay doesn't exist anymore and it's now called Ubisoft Connect.
This is proof that I don't use any of these things lol...
