ProtonUp-Qt is a simple and great way to manage the likes of GE-Proton (previously known as Proton GE), the Luxtorpeda compatibility tool for Native Linux game engines and more.

For those confused on the GE-Proton naming: it switched from being Proton-GE to GE-Proton back in February, although it seems a lot of people still just call it Proton-GE. Confused? I know I am.

Anyway, ProtonUp-Qt is the "easy mode" to install GE and other compatibility layers on Linux and Steam Deck as it gives you a nice UI to work with and you just click a few buttons. New in ProtonUp-Qt v2.7.0:

  • Added DXVK Nightly builds
  • Added button to install Proton-GE and Boxtron for Steam Flatpak directly from Flathub
  • Added Proton-Tkg CI builds
  • Fix bug where download would crash with error message 'no space left' #87
