Even MORE invites for Steam Deck purchases will start going out now

By - | Views: 31,048

You've heard this before right? As of today, Valve will be sending out even more emails each time to invite people to purchase their reserved Steam Deck.

This is sounding a bit like déjà vu isn't it? You're not dreaming though. They just recently updated shipping windows and said reservations are higher than ever, before that back in the middle of August Valve announced that more invites were going out, following a production ramp-up announcement at the end of July. Here we are again and Valve developer Lawrence Yang just said on Twitter:

For those curious - yes, Steam Deck order emails are going out on Labor Day (they just went out). We also bumped up the number of order emails per batch with today's release.

So if you're expecting an order email to come through, which as a reminder is every Monday and Thursday, keep your eyes firmly peeled on that inbox. You'll also get a notification inside Steam too.

I got mine on the first... they didn't ship it out until Sunday... PSA they ship from CAROL STREAM, IL and they use super slow FedEX. So if you're like me and live in CA it's a week+ long wait from ship to get. Won't get mine until the 12th, so that's almost 2 weeks from payment to receive.

On the + side got a record low priced 512GB SanDisk Extreme and a good price on a USB-C dock with good reviews for working on the SteamDeck due to Labor Day weekend sales.

Whew, I just misread the term "updated shipping windows", which scared the hell out of me. Maybe I should just go to bed...

You know what since I got my deck in July, I kind of miss checking my emails every Monday and Thursday for a steam deck email.

Kinda takes the fun out these announcements when you already have you deck.

Anyway, I'm off to play Crash Bandicoot on my Steam Deck

Quoting: GuestPixelDrop what brand USB-C dock you buy? i still trying decide what one choose...

This is the dock I decided to go with https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07TVSLDND?psc=1

since it had all the feature I wanted and I found a couple people online saying everything worked great on the steam deck.

For me the big ones were VGA + 3mm + Ethernet + at least 2 USB and of course a high enough pass through power rating to keep the deck charged while docked. It also has HDMI and and SD + micro SD card support which could be nice for future proofing/data transfer in case I ever need them.

There's a couple other options out there that trade the VGA + 3mm for an extra USB port if they aren't of use to you. Though watch out for the ones with only USB 2.0 ports... unless you're sure your only going to use USB for Mouse/keyboard and not storage/video..etc

I want one USB port for a wireless mouse keyboard combo and the other for an external SSD so USB 3.0 was quite important to me.

For what use case are you still using VGA? Old projector?
