Prism Launcher is easily one of the best ways to play Minecraft Java on Steam Deck and desktop Linux, thanks to a clear interface and great modding support. Prism Launcher 7.2 was just released to fix up some issues.
The developers mentioned they fixed up various bugs old and new, along with a few smaller new features. It already worked really well so it's nice to see a release focus on just general quality issues instead of always doing big new feature releases.
Some of what's been added / changed includes:
- Added LiteMod support to the mod browser.
- An option to always use the system locale.
- Automatically focus search bar when opening resource browser.
- Don't trash outdated mods when updating.
- Fix CurseForge modpack updater issues.
- Allow installation of CurseForge modpacks that don't have any mods
- Various crash bug fixes.
- [Linux] Add close button to the main toolbar when running on Gamescope.
- [Linux] Update Nix lock.
- [Linux] Bundle generic OpenGL library in AppImage.
- [Linux] Fix duplicate share directories.
- [Linux] Install appstream metadata in AppImage.
- + more bug fixes.

Can I ask what that DeckPack is? I've not tried MC on my deck yet, but that would actually be perfect

A couple questions for those more knowledgeable than I on the subject of Minecraft launchers...
For years I have been using MultiMC. Prism Launcher has a very similar interface. I have never used ATLauncher, GDLauncher or Prism Launcher. Since MultiMC is also open source, I was thinking that perhaps Prism Launcher is a fork of MultiMC or vise versa. Is this a valid assumption?
Every few months I invite all the grandchildren over to play Minecraft. I have eight laptops that use MultiMC as the launcher for Minecraft. We have one of the laptops as the host and the rest of the kids connect over the LAN. It is a great time! What (if any) are the advantages to using Prism Launcher over MultiMC?

Never tried the Pack, but If you want to try MC on the Deck, I can recommend:
- Prism Launcher
- Fabulously Optimized (modpack that ist an alternative to optifine using Fabric)

The modpack has Controller support for the Steam Deck out of the box.

This actually kind of sucks to hear as I was considering checking it out, I guess I'll just stick with using Steam input for my control mapping for Minecraft. More flexible to go that route anyways if you want to get into your more usual modpacks. Here recently yeeted off my modded instances between lack of playing them and the fact between All The Mods 8 and Better Minecraft Fabric they where consuming like 8GB or better for something I was barely touching anyways. But Steam Input mapping was a life saver in both packs.
