PayPalNow known as FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage Collector's Edition, this classic racer has received a fresh big upgrade to ensure it runs nicely and is now Steam Deck Verified. This update is thanks to ZOOM Platform Media / Jordan Freeman Group, who run their own store that keeps updating old games, but they've recently been getting more of these updates onto Steam too.
The latest update on Steam mentions these improvements:
- The game is now Steam Deck Verified!
- Removed Games for Windows LIVE DRM.
- Added Achievements.
- Added Czech, Hungarian, Polish, Russian, French, German, Italian, Spanish
- Fixed bugs, crashes, and improved loading times.
- The launcher is now optional, pressing play launches you directly in-game.
Nice to see more classics updated like this. Hopefully more will also see the same kind of treatment. There's such a huge list of classic games on Steam that could use a bit of TLC.

Wow, just for this exemplary "maintenance" this deserves a buy - being a cult game is a bonus of course xD

A few Steam users are complaining that this update removes online multiplayer. I'm not sure how many people were playing this game but it's still a removed feature.

Anyone who has played both FlatOut and Burnout: Is this series comparable? Some of my best memories are of Burnout 3 and Revenge. Does Flatout scratch a similar itch?

Apparently the DRM from this game together with other digital locks and restrictions are being moved to Flatout 3: Chaos & Destruction. A selfless act by the developer to spare people the suffering of playing, or even launching, that game.

I always remembered that it looked better than Flatout 2 ... but its more blurry and low textured than Flatout 2 imo, water and reflections look a bit nicer though and there's more AI opponents racing. Other than that its just Flatout 2 with few tweaks here and there.
Also for some reason it shows Controller prompts in the menus, Even though i have no controllers connected. Still works with keyboard though, just have to remember the buttons.
