If you're a game developer I hope you weren't planning to launch soon, as Hades II just sneakily dropped into Early Access on Steam. It's also Steam Deck Verified right away!

Hades II is a rogue-like dungeon crawler in which you'll battle beyond the Underworld of Greek myth using dark sorcery to take on the sinister Titan of Time. It builds on the best aspects of the award-winning original in an all-new, action-packed, endlessly replayable experience rooted in Greek myth and its deep connections to the dawn of witchcraft.

Even though it's in Early Access it still has more content than the first game including "more environments, foes, and fully-voiced characters" but "key areas, characters, foes, narrative events, and systems are still to come".

Confession time: I have still not played through the original. I know — I know, I'll get around to it. I'm currently finally playing through Telltale's The Walking Dead, so I'll put it on my list for after…

For those who have played the first one, I bet it's going to be difficult to hold off on it considering it's not finished yet. The developers state they expect it to be in Early Access for at least all of 2024. Really nice to see it got Steam Deck testing so early-on too, that's a good sign.

Available to buy on Steam.

First one was not a bad game but they tap into ever decreasing audience.
I am not going to buy second game if I don't beat first one.
And I did not beat it.(frankly lost interest, game is monotonous as fuck, even with different skills)
Could I beat it? Yes, I went 60% into game, but I grew bored.

Well, Hades II has already beaten the all-time concurrent player peak on Steam by quite a lot, so it's clearly very popular :)

I am a little amazed. I wonder how much of it is returning fan base.
At the end of day, big amount of people are not indicator of game quality/goodness.(majority do vote for Biden/Trump!)

With that said, what I have seen is ALSO a superior product to previous game. It clearly is. At least in my books. Hence increase can be explained. First game created hype. So even those who did not play it are aware of it. And now second comes out 'bigger better' version... Some new people get it.

I'm very excited for this release, but I'm still firmly stuck in the Total Biscuit discipline of never buying into early access. I get that this game is built with that critical feedback loop in mind, and I have full faith in SuperGiant Games delivering a full, finished product. I'm a fan.

But I will have to wait.

I bought the game AND the soundtrack as soon as I heard the news. Not going to play it until the game is done though.
SuperGiant Games made only excellent games every single time, so it's a safe bet!

My husband has been playing the Hell out of this on Switch. He's going to flip when I show him this. 😈

I wonder if this one has co-op...
I already have 8h on it, nice! Work like a charm (just one tile bug on oceanos). Nice renewal of the gameplay, nice story that hooks, a lot more details. 29€, it tastes good from the first price.
