Insane FPS 'MULLET MADJACK' gets updated for Steam Deck

By - | Views: 28,592

Quite a popular recent Steam release is MULLET MADJACK, a very vibrant single-player FPS set inside a retro Anime. It looks absolutely wild and the developer has made improvements to it on Steam Deck.

With a unique fusion of elements influenced by classic 90s FPS games, strategy, and intense action, this game promises to keep players entertained for hours on end. It arrived on May 15th and quickly shot up to an Overwhelmingly Positive rating on Steam.

In the recent patch the developers noted they "fixed bugs between save interactions carried out from pc to steam deck and vice versa messing with the game". Additionally they also added more resolutions to work with other handheld gaming devices too. Plus other bug fixes and optimizations.

More about it:

  • Exciting and dynamic combat: Race against time and infiltrate a building alone, overcoming each floor until you reach your objective.
  • Campaign mode: Clear floors filled with robots, and in crucial moments, execute ultraviolent finishes on your enemies to survive.
  • Survival mode: Utilize your skills in an endless mode and outdo your friends.
  • Unique visual and art style: The contrasting colors between black and vibrant neon evoke the aesthetics of violent and adult anime from the era of VHS tapes.
  • Engaging narrative: Set in an Old School cyberpunk world full of robots, the aesthetics of 90s anime merge with an action-packed environment.
  • Nostalgic soundtrack: Inspired by the synthwave genre, the soundtrack sets the tone and urban atmosphere of the game.
  • Evolve your character: Enhance your character with smart choices so that you can reach the top floor in the best possible time or you'll have to try again, all in the best Rogue-Lite style. But remember that each upgrade will affect how the game is played.

Always good to see developers put some more effort into ensuring their games work well on Steam Deck. Valve haven't yet rated it officially but on ProtonDB it has a Platinum rating so on deskop Linux you're good to go, and with this recent patch maybe it will see an eventual Deck Verified rating.

Available to buy on Steam.

I only heard about this game from some Reddit page and from watching the video, it looks pretty awesome to play. For now, I'll wishlist as a reminder to get this game when it goes on sale.

Being a fan of robots, I'm not sure I'm ok with that.

Anyway, seriously, this game looks really cool - great to see more vibrant stuff emerging after so many generations of games coloured only with sloppy shades of grey-and-brown! LOVE the mock-up box at the end of the trailer, too!

The brown era certainly was interesting.

At one point back then, I remember chatting to someone I knew at the time about some newly-released screenshots, and they were insistent that I was exaggerating and there were not only shades of brown and grey in an image. So I immediately ran it through a tool that generated a colour-palette from the picture, and lo and behold, literally only greys and browns. The reaction was priceless.
