Wireworks is tower-defense roguelike auto-battler that's incredibly unique and now it's much bigger with a huge free update released.

Here instead of placing down towers, you build up a board of modules and wire them all up to have unique attacks fly and spin around to defend your central tower. The idea of it is quite interesting, and actually a bit hilarious when you get going but it did suffer a bit because of a lack of overall content - you could get through it reasonably quickly. But now, the developer has answered the calls for more of it. They just released a major content update that adds in 40 new items with a brand new game mechanic.

As part of the update there's two new characters:

  • The Tinker - which is focused on the new Tools item type. These items have special powerful "Use" triggers that must be activated through other items or skills, with various synergies with the preexisting Mech/Wand builds.
  • The Hunter - a Pet-focused class that starts with a special companion beast and a special pet-scaling ability.

Give it a go, it's pretty unique! Fun little way to blast away some free time.
