Gearbox and 2K have announced that the release date for Borderlands 4 has moved up to September 12th and there's a new gameplay trailer to go along with it. Unless they stick in some kernel-level anti-cheat, I would expect this one to work just fine with Valve's Proton on Desktop Linux at least. Remains to be seen if the Steam Deck will be able to handle it.

Here's the new gameplay trailer below, which is from the PlayStation channel, as the one from the official Borderlands channel on YouTube is age-restricted so I can't embed it here. I do hope YouTube one day solve that issue…

In the footage you'll get to see a first-look at two of the new four vault hunter classes. Vex the Siren is a powerful Siren who can empower herself or manifest deadly shades to fight alongside her, while Rafa the Exo-Soldier shines as a former Tediore trooper who wears an experimental exo-suit capable of "digistructing" an arsenal of weapons. The developers say Borderlands 4 has "the most advanced skill tree system in a Borderlands game to-date".

2K said that Borderlands 4 will make it "easier than ever for friends to jump into co-op multiplayer with a new system for players to form parties online and stay together when switching game modes". It will also have "instanced loot for each player, dynamic level scaling, and individual difficulty to keep the party together and having fun through the whole campaign".

My plan to try and at least finish the main BL3 campaign has not panned out so far. Even though they're saying that the writing will be better this time, I choose to have no faith in that statement. Prove it.

BL3 had the most unbearable writing I’ve ever seen. Listen characters speaking was such a nightmare and unpleasant experience.

Seems the writing was order by someone that does not like its job.

I sorta enjoyed BD3.
BUT PLEASE NO MORE TINA, I AM SICK AND TIRED OF HER.
She was fun in second BL, but 3rd - she was there for no good reason. Adult woman who had 0 charm and behaved like an idiot child.
Lets see, I feel bad about buying Tiny Tina's Castle. Don't kill the franchise please.
