Backpack Battles is a PvP inventory management auto-battler from developer PlayWithFurcifer, which just hit the big 1.0 release.
The idea of it might seem initially a little odd. How can sorting a backpack be fun? But it will surprise you. The mechanics of sorting through all the items, acquiring new items and making sure everything is in the right place to overpower opponents during the automatic battles is great to watch. Over time certain items can combine to become more powerful, and it's just joy to see your current build blast through round after round as you totally annihilate opponents.
With the release there's two entirely new characters that are quite different. Here's how the developer explained them:
The Mage is a bit more complex than the previous classes, with a focus on interesting patterns and buff management.
If you feel like even more puzzling you can choose the Puzzlebox, to place tetrimino-shaped bags. They have a ton of cool Mage-y stuff like wands, spell scrolls, spell books etc, but you best discover them for yourself ;)The Adventurer is themed around variety and variance. Her main loadout, the Bag of Giving, works a bit like a combination of Rainbow Badge and Present: It lets you access other classes’ items and generate them randomly. It’s pretty wild, and we hope you will love it as much as we do!
There is of course a more tame alternative with her other loadout, which focuses more on tying neutral items together with Twine.
There's a new trailer too you can view below:

It has Native Linux support, it's Steam Deck Verified / SteamOS Compatible and there's a demo available. Currently it has a Very Positive rating on Steam. It's a very accessible game that you can relax with. I really love it.
Good to see another full release made with Godot Engine as well! Remember to check out our Godot Engine tag.
