Gears of War: Reloaded from The Coalition and Xbox Game Studios is now officially Steam Deck Verified and SteamOS Compatible ahead of release.

Earlier in June I reported how the developers stated that there would be no restrictions on the game for the Beta, with Steam Deck and SteamOS directly mentioned. Now it's even more official with Valve testing it and giving it the stamp of approval before it's even released.

Great to see, as even with the Easy Anti-Cheat it means you'll be able to play (anti-cheat can be a real problem) but once again, Xbox Game Studios are keeping the doors open where others developers choose not to.

I truly cannot wait to play through it. I thoroughly enjoyed the original back in…no that can't be right, 2006? Wow, that makes me feel a bit older than usual.

Anyway, for the compatibility the only note is that it might not default to external gamepads on Steam Deck, so you may need to swap it over in the Steam Deck UI.

So many hours lost to execution mode on the mp back in the day

Be interesting to see the work coalition has done with UE5 since obviously they do know their way around the engine being ex-epic employees

I must have been in the wrong friendgroup or something. Not me nor any of my friends ever played gears of war.
