The original Silent Hill is getting a remake from Bloober Team

During the recent KONAMI Press Start event, they confirmed that the original Silent Hill is now getting a remake too.

Bloober Team will once again be taking charge on this, which is not surprising given the positive reception to the Silent Hill 2 remake that released in October 2024. At least truly patient gamers will eventually be able to play through the remakes in order.

There's no real details on anything for the Silent Hill remake just yet, the teaser for it was brief and simply noted that it was in development. The video was literally just this image below with music from Silent Hill.

You may think it perhaps odd to remake a sequel and then do the first game, but it makes sense given the popularity of the second game. The character Pyramid Head was first introduced in Silent Hill 2 and it has become probably their most popular thing (I see someone dressed as Pyramid Head every time I go to a convention…).

I hope they do a better job of optimizing. Take notes from Threat Interactive on YT. I am stoked tho! To see those little, out of the cone of the flashlight, ghosts with updated graphics.

I don't want them to do Silent Hill 3. I'm afraid they will censor it to hell (no pun intended) due to the subject matter. Silent Hill 3 is my favorite, followed by 4. I'm actually not super into the 2nd one like everyone is. Silent Hill 1 deserved a remake more than any of them though, due to how dated it was. Though I'm worried it will lose that oppressivly heavy and dark setting and graphics.

The "Larval Stalker", "Demon Child" or "Mumbler" (US)? It's going to be interesting to see if they can go back to the original design of them being closer to ghost children this time around.

In general, I'm very curious how they're going to handle the monster designs, as a modern one-to-one interpretation might end up being a bit too similar to something like American McGee's Alice.
