Sometimes I come across a game that really just immediately jumps out at me as something that could be special, and Blanksword is one of those times. I'm getting some vibes from Undertale, DELTARUNE for this, just a little anyway.

What is it: Blanksword is a Roguelike RPG with strategic turn-based battles, a rich layered story, and a one of a kind brain management system. Enter a land full of dangers as BLANK, an amnesiac wandering Angel, and come to the aid of those that were wronged by God’s cruel law.

The setting of it is what really pulled me in, as it really does sound unique and interesting. Be sure to check out the trailer below:

It's currently crowdfunding on Kickstarter, with the developer hoping to raise €48,000 by October 17th. There's also a demo on Steam. Officially, they'll be supporting Windows so you can run it with Proton but they did say "ideally" they want to launch it for other platforms like Linux and macOS officially too.

Game Highlights:

  • Experiment with 15+ Brain Parts with game-changing properties.
  • Explore various regions such as a mushroom forest, a sprawling radio tower or moldy apartments.
  • Fight against a large panel of enemies, each with unique attacks and behaviors.
  • Customize your loadout each run with 150+ attacks & skills that can fit into any playstyle.
  • Get to know a rich cast of well-fleshed out characters.
  • Beat challenges ranging from precise platforming to fight arenas and races against the clock.
  • Strengthen yourself between runs with permanent upgrades.
  • Line your pockets as you complete tasks… but not too much: in Blanksword, money is a curse!
