ARK: Survival Ascended entered Early Access in 2023, and while it worked well enough on Linux / Steam Deck - Valve noted it was Unsupported until now.
What is it? ARK: Survival Ascended is a remake of the original ARK: Survival Evolved with Unreal Engine 5. Form a tribe, tame & breed hundreds of unique dinosaurs and primeval creatures, explore, craft, build, and fight your way to the top of the food-chain.

Not long after the initial release, Valve checked it over and gave it a Steam Deck Unsupported rating noting the anti-cheat was not supported. The game uses BattlEye, even though it's not actually listed on the Steam store page (so they seem to be breaking Valve's own rules on that). It's not entirely clear when BattlEye was actually enabled for Linux / SteamOS but it has been working for a while now and is listed on our dedicated anti-cheat page.
As of October 30th, Valve finally re-tested it and gave it the green Steam Deck Verified / SteamOS Compatible tick. They've also now by default set it to use the upcoming Proton 10.
