With Evil Empire now in control of the future of Brotato, the first free content update under their wing is out now and it really sounds great.

The appropriately named New Dawn Update brings only a little bit of new content like 6 new items and 1 weapon, with the focus on quality of life features to improve the game. Like the ban system, that allows you to ban up to 8 items from the shop that you don't want to see appear during a run, but you have to unlock it by beating Danger 3 or higher. There's also now a save profiles system, so you can have 3 separate saved games. And, since there's a lot of items and you can get a bit overloaded with info, there's now also a codex to read through and potentially plan ahead a bit.

Oh, and Native Linux and macOS support also landed too! Turns out they were already planned, Evil Empire just finished them off and got the versions released.

More was added like various tweaks to animations, the UI and so on.

I wonder if installed through Heroic would it automatically switch to native Linux or should I reinstall. Or is it Steam exclusive?

I assume you mean Epic Games via Heroic, if so that would still use Proton, Epic doesn't carry Linux games.

I think Brotato was made with Godot, right? So Linux support was always doable

Yeah, it's Godot. Still, game engines only provide the base package for developers - easy porting does depend on how much custom stuff they all stick in.

But have they learned how to do key rebinding?
