Croc Legend of the Gobbos remaster originally launched as an exclusive to GOG, but that's not going to last with a newer edition announced and a Steam release.

The developer recently revealed that they're doing a new "Croc Legend of the Gobbos Platinum Edition", which they had to tweak due to some PlayStation trophy issue. But, it's also coming with a bunch of other enhancements for everyone along with a Steam release now too.

What's new in this edition:

  • A new time trial gameplay mode called Time Attack
  • 25+ new additions to the Crocipedia.
  • The ability to toggle between different Croc Main Theme mixes in the main menu.
  • A bunch of bug fixes were squashed. Ker-Splat!
  • A handful of quality-of-life features and improvements.

It will be a free update if you have it on GOG already.

They seem to have messed up on the release dates though. According to the press release it was supposed to launch on Steam on October 13th, with the other platforms today. But the Steam page just notes it's "Coming Soon". So it might be today, it might not. Either way, nice to see it come to Steam too for those that prefer it.

Cool, but I'm probably just gonna stick with the Sega Saturn version still. 🪐

Wonder if they'll keep the Steam version DRM free too.

Absolutely loved playing this remake on Cachy OS, just ran as smooth as butter through Heroic Game Launcher. The music, the gameplay and even on the PS1 this game blew me away. I'm glad that Steam are getting this game, will definitely buy it again, even if it has DRM content.

No date in Steam yet though. I will happily buy this and, specially, Breath of Fire IV when they release on Steam.
