We're just about to hit the full swing of the holiday season, and so GamingOnLinux will go into its usual holiday hibernation to spend time with family.
It has been an absolutely crazy year not just for Linux gaming, but for the industry as a whole. We've seen tons of progress for open source, Linux has reached new heights on Steam and we've got the new Steam Machine and Steam Frame coming next year with SteamOS. Next year is going to be truly nuts and it feels like a true privilege to be able to continue to cover everything daily thanks to all our supporters. Although we do have the doom and gloom of generative AI, and the price hikes on various bits of hardware hanging over us right now, it's also going to be a tough year on that side of things too.
Across 2025 there's been over 2,300 articles including a mixture of general news tips, reviews, editorials, guides and more published here on GamingOnLinux. The aim of GamingOnLinux has never changed, to give you something fresh to read every weekday without clickbait.
If you wish to support the continued work on GamingOnLinux and ensure we stick around, the best way is monthly support via Patreon. In the age of increasing paywalls, AI scraping articles, search engines expanding their AI to stop you visiting sites like this and other changes to the internet as we know it — your direct support is absolutely vital. We cannot do it without you!
All other donations, without any special rewards can be done by:

A truly massive thank you to everyone reading, commenting and being a part of the community. You are all the most important thing, as without you reading and commenting we are nothing. Thank you as well for all the article feedback via correction reports, emails and even complaints that help us improve. The fact that any of you take the time out of your day to be part of GamingOnLinux is amazing.
We'll be taking a break from now until around the day after New Years Day (unless something real important appears or boredom strikes). We should be back to full speed starting around January 5th. See you in the new year!
Ps. The community Forum is set to return in early 2026. A lot of prep work is already done on improving it.
Time to fill up on good food and play some games.
Happy Christmas and New Year to all.
Merry Christmas and a happy new year!
