Welcome back, dear readers, to another community article for us all to have a little chat about what we've been playing recently. It's been about a month since we last did this, so it's time to see how you're all doing.

Last time I was completely hooked on ARC Raiders, clocking up a current total of 135 hours. I'm at a point where I feel like I've seen pretty much everything the game has to offer, and so I've taken a bit of a break from it for a while to see how it evolves across a few updates. Very enjoyable though, as long as you don't mind the PvP where you end up losing your good stuff constantly.

Now that I've kicked the ARC habit, I've been jumping into a few other games including the truly excellent Sektori. Mixed in with some Overwatch 2 for the new season and winter events, because family members love it. Despite a brief hiccup with the latest season, it continues running great on Linux.

I also properly tried to get into Fallout 76 with the partner recently too, but something about it just feels a bit off. I can't quite put my finger on why. I think, perhaps, I just enjoyed Fallout 3 and New Vegas too much that it doesn't do it for me as an MMO? More time needed to see for sure. Am I really missing too much if I skip over F76?

Over to you in the comments - what have you been playing lately?

Quoting: Cyril
Quoting: Tethys84I went to Nexusmods to see what mods there were for Stellar Blade, as I do for most games I buy... Big mistake... just gross.
I mean, what did you expect? I'm not really surprised. ^^
Fair point.

The Simpsons: Tapped Out via Project Springfield on my Android phone. EA shut the servers down, but the private server is just as good and has unlimited donuts and money. Mmm... Premium currency. lol

I had to sell my Steam Deck. D:

Been on a Bitburner binge lately, as well as some Valheim with my kids. Plus the odd Factorio and RimWorld sessions.

And of course my go-to game when I want to play something, but don't know what: Sid Meier's Civilization. The only game that's been installed on all my PCs since I got it in 1992 (thank you DosBox (staging)).

I had some time off a couple of weeks ago, and pulled the trigger on Avowed. Absolutely stunning game - like a cross between Skyrim's open world and interesting characters, and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic's visceral combat. The dodge, block, attack almost feels souls-like at times, and some of the fights are just absolutely immense. Incredibly fun game.

Otherwise, just Path of Exile 2 as usual, but the Abyssal League finished a few days ago, and the new Last Druid expansion launches tonight, with a new league kicking off. Can't wait. PoE2 is incredible, I love it.

Eriksholm: The Stolen Dream, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 (I find it too tiring to play with its incessant boss battles, so I stopped playing at the beginning of Chapter II), The Last of Us Part II Remastered, Red Dead Redemption 2 (that I liked very much !!).

ARC tempted me, but I didn't buy it because it doesn't offer PVE...

I got distracted playing Skyrim for a bit, but I returned to Trails in the Sky FC (the remake) so I can finish it. I'm on the Final Chapter, and I should finish it this weekend.

After that, I'll either finish SRW Y, or go back to Skyrim. I was going to go Morrowind->Oblivion Remastered->Skyrim, but I was setting up my character in each and ended up getting caught up exploring in Skyrim. So, I guess I'll be doing Skyrim first.

yay! Glad you're enjoying Avowed. It's sooooooo good. And they just did an enormous update right? I absolutely ADORE the world of Eora and they did a great job with all the lore in this one as well.

Loved the first one, was put off buying 2 when it came out. How's it playing these days?

I'm playing The Planet Crafter again, since the new Toxicity DLC came out.

Quoting: notinuseI've been playing Legend of Grimrock 2. I like old-type dungeon crawls similar to Dungeon Master, and Grimrock 2 adds outdoor areas that work better than I expected. Having a lot of fun crawling around the sewers.
This is high on my list! You think it'd be good on the Deck? Or is a mouse keyboard better?
I'm not sure. I've never played it on a console or using a controller. Only played it using a keyboard and mouse, the game works well that way.

Last week, I briefly went through Miasmata (wine), Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor GOTY (native), Monkey Island 2 Special Edition: Le Chuck's Revenge (wine), Monster Truck Madness (wine now crashes), and Moonlighter (native).

I am going thru all the games I own (now at letter 'M' as first letter of title) to re-visit and meticulously record the progress and any hints that can help me get back to the game after a long gap.

Learned my lesson with one game I tried to get back to after several years only to find that I couldn't even progress successfully without having to start from scratch to go back through the tutorials and re-learn the techniques to gather resources so I can defeat a boss which I am stuck at.

Monster Truck Madness used to work a few years ago last time I played, but now crashes in wine 10.x, or even wine 6.x which I keep around for some games. I have no inclination to build much older wine with 16-bit code (I don't think that's even possible with latest Linux distro) so I'll have to give up on this game. I still have license for Windows 95 and kept the laptop part that goes with it, but I highly doubt I will allocate a disk image on my file system for that and waste time maintaining it.
