Bringing another Nintendo classic to PC, the community has delivered with Banjo-Kazooie via the Banjo: Recompiled project that's now available.
Under an open source license (GPL) it uses N64: Recompiled to statically recompile Banjo-Kazooie into a native port with many new features, enhancements, and extensive mod support. This project uses RT64 as the rendering engine to provide graphical enhancements. It does not include the original game assets, you need to own a copy of it for the data needed to run Banjo: Recompiled.
Some of the enhancements include high framerate support, widescreen and ultrawide support, better camera controls, instant loading times, note saving and more. We've seen some of the work from Mr-Wiseguy and co before with projects like Zelda 64: Recompiled.

On the GitHub page they even have a dedicated section for Linux / Steam Deck that notes:
A Linux binary as well as a Flatpak is available for playing on most up-to-date distros, including on the Steam Deck.
To play on Steam Deck, extract the Linux build onto your deck. Then, in desktop mode, right click the BanjoRecompiled executable file and select "Add to Steam". From there, you can return to Gaming mode and configure the controls as needed.

What I particularly like is how they let the user upscale but then downsample back to native res. Far better then just bumping up the internal res!
Quoting: Doktor-MandrakeIt's amazing how fast these guys are getting these recomps outit goes a lot quicker when you got the instruction set decoded and some open source tools that help reverse enginering stuff =p, but still it must be a lot of work

and the arrange of the game music with real/realistic instruments.
Quoting: PhlebiacBoth this and Zelda64 crash out when I select the "Load ROM" menu option. I'm guessing it's supposed to show a file picker? If you want to deep dive, strace would probably tell you what they're trying to load there.
