We now have the official PC specifications released for Death Stranding 2 and they actually seem pretty reasonable, so plenty of people should be fine. I was a bit worried, given how many games release in such a poor state.
You'll still need a decently modern PC to be able to play 1440p at 60FPS, but even there the specifications (at least to me) seem fair enough for such a new release. On top of that, there's even a dedicated "Portable" graphics preset they've made for handheld PCs - so we might hopefully even see it playable on the Steam Deck.
Here's what was shared on the PlayStation blog:
The release will come with support for NVIDIA DLSS 4, AMD FSR 4 and Intel XESS 2 along with frame generation options. Additionally, they said there's a new "Pico" upscaling option, something that was developed by Guerrilla for the Decima engine and is the same upscaling technology that’s used for Death Stranding 2 on PS5.
Some good sounding ultrawide support for it too, including for cut-scenes.
My other concern, apart from performance, was the PlayStation Overlay - which simply does not work with Proton on Linux. Thankfully, any PlayStation account linking is optional so it shouldn't prevent the game from launching on Linux systems.
