One missed from the other week is The 7th Guest Remake got announced, bringing the classic haunted mansion adventure into modern times. Coming from Vertigo Games and Exkee, if you love exploring and solving puzzles in a spooky setting this might be one to stick on your wishlist.

Technically, this is not entirely new. They actually released a VR version "The 7th Guest VR" back in 2023. With this they're finally giving those of you without a VR kit the experience now with this proper standalone version.

Compared with FMV from the original, this is doing something a little different with real actors appearing fully inside the game world. The original reveal trailer is below:

The iconic game The 7th Guest has been brought back to life with modern technology, delivering an atmospheric story like no other.

Six guests have been welcomed to a foreboding mansion, but something sinister is at play. The wealthy recluse and toymaker Henry Stauf lurks in the shadows, and a dark power hangs over the house, shrouded in mystery. Who is the seventh guest? What does Henry want with them? And who will live to tell the tale?

As you explore the eerie mansion, the puzzles grow increasingly challenging, with dangers lurking around every corner. Every shadow, distant creak, and flicker of light builds tension as the house slowly reveals its secrets.

The 7th Guest is the ultimate mystery adventure for players who love mind-bending puzzles, haunting exploration, and a chilling story.

  • Cinematic Storytelling Through Volumetric Video: Step inside the story. I never really got into FMV games or interactive movies or whatever you want to call them, but this looks like it might have a better balance of gameplay vs cut scene. And real actors inside a rendered game world? In my opinion that worked pretty well in Cyan's classics and of course the wonderful Tex Murphy adventures.
