Available now in Mesa 26.0.2, the latest bug-fix release for the current main stable version of open source graphics drivers for Linux.

The main highlights from this release are:

  • 26.0.1 fails to build: `create_context.c: error: ‘struct glx_screen’ has no member named ‘frontend_screen’`
  • A770: Counter-Strike 2 visual glitches (regression)
  • Bisected regression: Assertion texObj->pt == view->texture failed.
  • Kodi regression with panthor >= 1.7 after updating to Linux 7.0-rc1
  • MDK2 HD (opengl) has most elements rendered as black
  • Mesa 25.3 amdgpu memory issue
  • OpenGL 4.1 VRAM Memory Leak with setting uniform variables
  • Panfrost Bifrost compiler assertion failure: wrong vectorization in bi_alu_src_index (Mesa 26.0.0)
  • RADV: RDNA4 visual corruption in DX11 (DXVK) – Mafia III character model glitches, AMDVLK renders correctly (9070XT)
  • [radeonsi] Regression: GL_FEEDBACK returns 0.0 for X-coordinates (Legacy GL)
  • glsl: [email protected]@linker@glsl-mismatched-uniform-precision-unused broken
  • ir3: ir3_get_predicate() vs &ctx->build
  • r300 , regression , bisected : Glitches with Sauerbraten
  • r300: HiZ related dEQP failures

I basically bolted over to my steam library to go see if MDK 2 was finally fixed after reading this, that was one of THE games I actually felt like I gave up going to linux.

The good news is: Yes, they did fix the black texturing issues in MDK 2 HD! Yay!

The bad news is: Everything regarding cutscenes continuing is broken, like everything renders correctly (except the HUD) but the dialogue doesn't continue and menu music plays where it shouldn't. Don't know if this is an issue with the game or an issue with proton, but either way MDK 2 HD is still unplayable.

Also, MDK 2 Classic has not benefitted from the Mesa patches as far as I'm aware, as it still starts up with a black screen.

One day... One day it will work. We're at least closer.
