The popular PlayStation 3 emulator RPCS3 is set for some upgrades that will make it better on handheld gaming PCs like the Steam Deck and Legion Go.

A lot of their updates, annoyingly, are only posted on X/Twitter - so following it is a bit of a nuisance. Anyway - their team recently posted a question to ask users what they would like to see in terms of improvements to running it on handhelds. And, they highlighted some upcoming improvements that will make it better.

Across two posts they said:

Do you use RPCS3 on a handheld PC? If yes, what emulator features would you like to see added or improved?

We are currently working on improving handheld UI user experience, and we looking for extra feedback and feature suggestions!

(this is not for game compatibility requests)

A few things lined up coming soon that will benefit handheld PC users:

- A redesigned in-game home menu;
- More settings that can be changed on the fly without having to restart a game;
- Better mapping of the home menu button;
- Adding games to Steam from within RPCS3.

I'm not too much into emulation, but it's really great to see improvements here. My handhelds are where I am much more likely to do so and so eventually it should be a really good experience. Great for video game preservation!
